Nah, just kidding. Although it was definitely an impulse-buy.

On a different thread (4856), I recommended that someone purchase a new Constellation to meet their needs of a good, well made canister.
So I went to Hoover.com, and saw that they were on closeout for $145. I couldn't resist!

I've heard mixed stories on whether or not they are "officially" discontinued--Hoover's website would make one believe they are; but those at the Hoover stores still say they aren't discontinued. Either way, I wanted to have one, and $145 was less than what my employee cost used to be at Hoover. I had the money, and bit the bullet.

Now I have one of every model of Constellation represented! Yay!

I'd also say that if anyone is on the fence about buying a stainless steel one, now would probably be the time to do it!
...while the price is right!

Enjoy the pictures! :-)

Wow Fred, that is really a great price!! I have to agree, if anyone is looking for a good canister vac I'd go for it. The suction is fantastic!!

Would someone in Ohio consent to get me one and I'll come visit at your convenience, pick it up and pay for it in November?

Oh rats - Hoover.com is having the glitchies

Hoover.ca has both models but certainly not at that price and ya gotta go through a dealer. :-(

Home Hardware lists only the white one...for $219.99! and I have the white one already.

I had a chance to play with the new Constellation when I was in Sydney. It's an amazing machine with incredible suction and really does sail across the floor.

The one thing that bothered me about it was the hose which is too short. Yes, it's an expandable hose, sort-of, what I mean is that when you pull on the hose hard enough to stretch it out, all it does is make the machine come sliding over. And since the hose is so short, every time you push the wand back and forth on the floor, the canister goes bibbley-bobbling back and forth, which after a while gets a bit annoying.

If I got one of these I would definitely consider replacing the hose with a longer one.

Now Fred! It followed me home. How long have I known you! That's a good one. I really like the black hose and the price is so tempting but I already have had 3 Anniversary Hoovers "FOLLOW" me home this year. Funny how that happens.
That is a fantastic buy for a very good vac with plenty of suction and very good bag. Mine seems to hold the suction level very well.

Does anyone understand why they are selling the Hoover Stainless for $145.00 and still asking $239.00 for the regular Connie?

Nice Buy Fred, it looks great and such a great box too.
I was thinking about buying one but am leaning more towards the Steam Vac Dual V Turbo Power that is also on closeout for $200.

Also does anyone know if the closeout items are avaliable and for the same price in the Hooer Stores?

Who ever said or thought TTI or any other large company was capable of reasoning? I'd love one too, and I actually dreamt last night HooverCelebrity was getting rid of his because he was tired of it! Strange!

Nightmare?

Not for me, you wanted $45.00 for it! If I can locate one in this town, it'll be my Christmas present. Too bad I can't find a $5.00 one like Dave did.

Well, congrats. Do they take the same bags as the old one? I'd love to have seen one with an electric power nozzle.

I think I'll wait until the new ones become vintage before getting one!
