Here's a couple pics of the Rotarex I told you about a few weeks ago. Like I said, about the only thing I know about it is that it was made in Cleveland by Apex. If anyone else knows anything about this machine I'd be glad to hear from you.

Rotarex, by Apex

Here's a side view and close up shot of the Rotarex. I have started restoration since these photos were taken and it looks quite different already. Will post more photos when I'm done. This may possibly be the oldest, or at least one of the oldest machines in my collection.

After Pics

Hi Jeff, We need to take some both before and after pics to Brent sometime so he can see what he gave you and how you have given it new life. Maybe even run the Vac over for him to see in person. I know he will be amazed at how it turned out. I know I will be when I see it since I saw it when he first gave it to you. Good Pics !!! Jim

..Hey..that's a nice oldie, Jim. I love the old ones, as you may know. She is going look really sharp when you get her finished. Thanks for the posting. I'm always happy to see another old one saved and made beautiful again. Looking forward to seeing her in her former glory. :-D

Restoration

hygiene903's profile picture
Is still a work in progress at this point. The polishing is finished, but I have the bag off waiting for Lena to work some magic with it. Also have to check out the cord and switch.
You're right Jim, when she's finished we'll take her over for Brent to look at. Bet he'll be surprised, especially when he hears it run!
Bernie, I knew you'd like that one. In a way, it kind of reminds me of our Reginas. But that's one of the things we have in common, our fascination with the older machines.

The "After" Photos

Thought I would post a couple "after" pics of the Rotarex. And again, if anyone knows anything about this machine, I'd be glad to hear from you. All I know is that it was made in Cleveland, OH by Apex.

Indeed you did. Certainly an interesting variation of the duck-billed Apex. I'd love to know more about it myself. I'm just about to do a restoration on a Kirby 1C. Can you tell us what you used to get the aluminum looking like that?

Thanks for the Compliments

I used Mother's Mag, terrycloth towels, and lots of elbow grease to get the shine. Also used a little steel wool on some of the more stubborn spots.
