I've never seen anything like it, it dosen't look like it could ever be a hoover.

As far as I know this is not a TTI machine. It has been around for a while and used to be in the Walmart stores a few years ago. It is called the Hoover Perferred and they also made a green one just like it but called the Hoover Spirit. They had nothing to do with the old perferred or spirit. I think this is a maytag machine? They sold for about 55.00 or less and cleaned very well. They however are very cheap and didn't last long if you used it a lot. I bought a few of them. They take the Z bags not the Y like the wintunnel.

I had that same machine in green, and it was indeed, called the "Spirit," but nothing like the original. It came to me as a trade-in. I just liked the color because it was the same green as the Dial-A-Matic 1149. I gave it to a friend who was in desperate need of a vacuum. I got their Oreck XL-100C. I'd say I got the better of the deal....

Yup...

I saw them @ Walmart and ShopKo and they were ALWAYS on sale and were usually under $60.

Hoover Preferred

Hmmm My aunt bought 2 of these about 4 years ago from Wal mart. One replaced a hoover bagless that I hated, and the other replaced a dead Elite 350. They were nice to use (I clean for her) but now one is the garage vac and the other is kept with the lawnmower and yard stuff in the space under the back deck. The suction was good but over the past year I noticed it wasn't making the carpet lines like it used to, and it just wanst sucking. I cleaned them regular but to no avail. When she put in new carpet a few months ago I talked her into 2 new Windtunnels. I was hoping I would at least get one of them but I she kept them to use as "shop vacs" I will try to snap some pics of them later this week when im up there then with the Windtunnel that replaced them.
