Despite the fact that you can CLEARLY see the BIG RED BAG in the photos... *duh-uhhh* (another eBay rocket scientist!)

I think the seller was implying that it does not use disposible paper bags, not that it had no bags at all.

Shipping Costs....

The price for the cleaner isn't bad (if it had attachments or something with it), but the shipping is a killer! $40?! What are they shipping? Depleted Uranium?!?!

While we're on the subject of Kirby Bagless....

I just had to post this. I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned on the forum previously. Does anyone have any experience with this product? It's clunky, but seems like a good idea, even better if it were a filterless cyclonic system....

Oh...........IT.............BURNS!!!!!!!

Oh the agony! WHY!?!?! You can buy several years' supply of bags for the cost of that monstrosity!!! Never loses suction?! I seem to see a pleated paper filter in there! Gimme a bag anyday........

Not to mention that the gizmo they are selling takes away the beauty of a kirby and makes it look so cheap

Good Lord. Who on earth would want to push that monstrosity around the house? As if the Kirby isn't big and heavy enough already!

At the very least, why isn't the bagless cylinder vertical instead of horizontal? That's just plain stupid.

And, yes, HIDEOUS looking.

I agree - that has to be one of the stupidest ideas I've seen yet.

Looks like a DISASTER

Really takes the point out of a Kirby. We all like Kirbys here because of the BAG. Aren't I correct??

Post# 51317 , Reply# 13   9/13/2008 at 11:29 (5,702 days old) by charles~richard ()

Yes, the bag, the bag. The air-choking, dust-belching, dirt-spewing, odor-radiating cloth bag.

For me, the cloth bag somehow epitomizes all that I like about old vacuum cleaners. There's just something about the way the big cloth bag hangs from the handle that has such a visually appealing and satisfying appearance.

Ditto for when it's being operated and the turgid, air-filled bag is pressing against the handle and slightly rocking up and down as the machine is pushed back and forth. I could watch a custodian or "lady of the house" using an old Kirby, Sanitaire, Royal, etc., for hours - just enjoying how the bag looks. And it's also fun to watch a Kirby being used with the hose and seeing the bag and handle "jiggle" when the machine is tugged around the room.

Granted, these visual elements surely are archetypes impressed onto my mind probably from infancy, but I still enjoy seeing upright vacuum cleaners with cloth bags. It just looks good. Correct. Satisfying.

A vacuum cleaner with a big plastic (and usually ugly) bulge protruding from its handle just doesn't look the same.

According to that ad there are two versions.
The Horizontal Jet for $149 and the vertical Tornado for $249.
Doesn't make sense really.

As I recall from age 3, it was watching the bag inflate on my family's Kirby 516 that started my fascination. And to this day, when I turn on my Ult G - Diamond, I always watch the bag inflate, though not as satisfying as the older models. If you are a devoted Kirby fanatic, the cost of bags is not a concern.
