My Hoover Anniversary arrived this afternoon. It has very cool blue lights for the suction levels. Nice feel to the cord and much quieter than any other Hoover canister I own. Power nozzle is quiet and very lightweight. It has a beautiful Hoover logo on the top and nice silver and black color.
The fit and finish are not comparible to the Electrolux Oxygen but then this vac didn't cost $500.00! I will give an update after I have used her. I am glad to get it to complete the Anniversary Series. Thanks Fred for your help.

Yay!

Congrats, Rob!
Glad I could help ya!

It is an absolutely beautiful machine.
I'm not sure which of the Anniversary machines I want to get.
At the moment, I'm leaning towards the Self Propelled Windtunnel.
But, that canister of yours is absolutely stunning!

Oh, decisions, decisions...

Love the Hoover Emblem on yours, look much nicer than the emblem on mine!

I'm curious...

this example looks to have a proper Hoover logo badge on it, but sbnhvlvr's has a paper sticker logo, apparently. Why is this?

Looks like a very nice cleaner, btw - but I can't get over how Miele-esque it is!

Hoover Anniversary vac has arrived

Mine has a later serial number (060800003185). The Power Nozzle is so darn quiet and it really makes the carpet look nice. The wand and hose is very lightweight and adjustable to your height. It seems to me it has more airflow than the Anniversary Windtunnel or Anniversary Convertible.
There is a pre motor filter and a hepa after filter. It uses the "S" type hepa bag. You can adjust the suction to 4 levels. I think it has very sleek look.

Hoover Anniversary Canister has arrived!

Something that is very interesting to me is that both of the Anniversary uprights are very tiring to use because the weight and balance of the handle. Even the self-propelled has a very heavy tiring feel and they are so loud compared to the canister. The canister powernozzle is so lightweight and it just glides over the carpets and changes so easily to clean the hardwood floors. The switch to turn the brush off is on the hose handle. The tools fit under the lid.

Mmm, the canister is sounding like the one to get from these reviews. And yes, it does have a Miele look. I'll have to vist a shop and take one for a test run. Soon.

It's a puzzlement indeed

I'm unsure of which TTI person I conversated with, but both the blonde lady an the dark haired dude that were there from the company, told us (myself and Kyle Krichbaum amongst others) that the main reason that the Windtunnel Canisters were held in production was becasue of that very Hoover label.

So apprantly to satisfy hungry consuers, and get the machines out quickly they figured a cheap nappy paper lable would do,knowing that the average householder wouldnt care two licks as to the material used to create it. Of course now they are putting the more rubbery lable on it, to make it seem more deluxe, or normal.

It's funny becasue Tacony (who Im almost 100% sure is building that thing BTW) has nary a problem with product launches like this. Of couse TTI and the ghost of the Hoover Co. are involved.

I really hope that it's as nice as you've stated. I do really want one and hopefully will NOT be wasting my money. And now, according to our product planner we may be carrying them in our stores too...

I believe there 3 versions of the Hoover Badge, the 1st run of
the anniversary canister had the Hoover Badge Painted on!
The 2nd run had the Sticker Badge, and the final version
retooled Hoover Badge. I was part of the conversion
with Eric from TTI with Chad and Kyle at Hoover Park.
The Delay in the final version of the Badge was the retooling
of lid mold for the Raised Hoover Badge.

The Serial Number mine is 040800001531, which makes it 530 of the production line

Hold on to the early production, painted/sticker badge versions...if history is anything to go by, they'll be the most sought-after examples in the future!

And to add insult to injury, the sticker badge is disoriented!

Hoover Anniversary Canister has arrived!

Guys you might be right about the different logos. I had 3 sets of grandparents. Two of them bought Hoover 28s' after he war and there were many differences between the machines. One had the metal hood with no trim on the sides of the hood, the bag just said "Hoover" was light brown and the dusting tools were all brown bakelite. The color of the handle grip matched the brown handle and it had a bakelite bag ring and different type of original cord. This one was bought very soon after the war. My other grandparents 28 had the bakelite hood with attached trim on each side, bag said "The Hoover Cleaner",metal bag ring, handle grip was lighter brown that matched the smooth covered cord and came with metal attachments. Of course only a collector would notice these changes. There were variations on my parents Air-Way66. Some had blue cords, some had black cords, there were several different switch types and some had blue trim on the gliders and some had black. Same with the tools.

There have always been production differences with vacuum models, and the long-run Hoover machines are no exception. Even the Electrolux Model G had at least 4 variations if you include the Hospital G.

But I am questioning if that's the case with the new Hoover canister. I visited last month with an old friend who runs a shop in Louisville and he follows vacuum manufacture very closely. According to him, TTI has a very competitive bid process for manufacture of their machines. Vendor A may get a contract to build 500 machines for $X, then Vendor B gets a contract to build 1000 machines for $Y, and so on. This is for the same model. Chances are that the differences you see in these two Hoover canisters represent manufacture by two different subcontractors.

I suppose TTI owns the basic moulds for the vacuums, but the other parts, such as switches, motors, filters, etc are bought from the cheapest vendor. Everything is outsourced these days, even in the East. Still, differences make a model collectible.

Hoover Anniversary Canister has arrived!

I used the machine today and here is what I found:
pro:
(1) good hepa bag
(2) long power cord
(3) quiet motor and power nozzle
(4) did a good job on carpeting
(5) nice telescopic wand
(6) beautiful sleek colors and style
But:
(1) power nozzle handle won't stay up
(2) wheels on vac are way too small-have to drag the machine across the carpet and it wants to go sideways even on hard surface( you can see them on the Hoover.com website under images)
(3) Power nozzle has no height adjustments-like an Oreck you cannot tilt it back on rear wheels and move power nozzle from one surface to the next-you have to keep lifting the power nozzle from surface to surface
(4) controls are not marked, difficult to tell which are on/off,cord rewind, power level controls
(5) cord winder does not work smoothly-snaps the cord back in machine
(6) comb fabric and dusting brush has short brush, not good for dusting
(7)hose ends do not swivel easily
Summary: It is a quiet vac that will do decent job on carpets with a good hepa bag and it looks good but just not as easy to use as the Electolux Oxygen and I would have some reservations about the quality of machine (same as Anniversary Windtunnel and Anniversay Convertible),but as a collector I am glad they offered Anniversary models.

That's the prettiest new canister with the Hoover name on it.

Hoover Anniversary has arrived!

I wanted to show you what I was talking about the Hoover having very small wheels. You can also see how the Electrolux exhaust comes out all around the back and the Hoover is out the top. Interesting how the designs are similar yet so different. The Electrolux is "ELEGANT" but the Hoover is downright "GLAMOROUS".

Hoover Anniversary canister has arrived!

You can see in the picture the Electrolux has a positive lock on the handle, height adjustments and an interesting steerable handle. The Hoover has smaller wheels and has a wider sweeping path. Both have lights. The Hoover light is brighter but the Electrolux has "blue" led lighting. Who knows which cleans better? They both look very similar on the bottom. The Electrolux is the winner hands down on suction level and noice level but the Hoover has the Windtunnel tech. I like them both and they are both beautiful in different ways!

Hoover Anniversary canister arrives!

This Hoover is so quiet my cocker spaniels (Donnie and Marie)sleep while I use it in the family room.

Quiet!

Too bad I can't say the same for my TriStar......sounds like the space shuttle at liftoff! Although now that I have all the filters for it now it sounds MUCH quieter than it did before... I forgive it though.......does such a fantastic job cleaning the carpet!
