Busy as the workweeks are I still find time to tweak this or that. Have two Kenmores with their mechanicals restored and ready for the final Spa treatment over the Labor Day weekend - which for me means Monday and Tuesday.

Both these vacs are Canadian-made and labeled on the bottom for Simpsons-Sears Canada. The Robert Simpson Department store chain partnered with Sears Canada back in the day.

First, Although it is as plain as honest dirt, one I like a lot because of it's Singer-ish twin fans and bifurcated dirt paths is this KENMORE upright. It's also a two speed.

Lost all the text in a Firefox crash.

So here's the pic of the Avocado Green Simpsons-Sears KEMNORE Magicord with matching BeaterBar PowerMate and wand! This is one of the free cut-cord and tool-less machines found curbside in Woodstock last April. From the parts bins I found accesorries and proper white ribbed cording. The cord was even cut off the Powermate wand!!!

The powerhose has a vinyl split at the wand end only. It was repaired because of its non-pigtailed two pin molded connector at the vacuum end. A 3" smaller diameter coiled vinyl hose section was screwed down inside the main hose and spring butted into the metal handle. The current carrying wires are so stiff they did not deform under brutal surgical manipulation. the whole business was then wrapped in white electrical tape then sealed under a collar of white shrink wrap.

Last step is a new white cord for the Magicord winder.

Exact same mechanicals inside, all accessable and removable under the bottom plates. Easy to service.

Different bag capacity and yes, I know the bag is in upside down, they are generic bags for Eureka that will only fit this way to let the bag tab seat properly.

The finished KENMORE Model 2587C Ensemble.

The tools are probably not the correct ones - they are too upscale - but they do have the Sears logo.

A very nice cheerfully green powerful compact lightweight vacuum - 65".

Imagine. This was tossed to the curb and both cords cut off!

Wow, you're good! It looks great! Looks like the day it came from the store.

Ah very nice, that green one is sort of the budget model in the lineup. As the price increased so did the features, the tool box cover and a fancier power nozzle with adjustments and lights. I think Jeff P has the fancy green one.

Aw shucks, I credit Mr Clean Magic Eraser and a sore wrist. :-) I will be on the lookout for proper Sears Kenmore bags...for both vacuums.

It is cute, I think. Mostly I was entranced by the matching painted PN wand and the shocking poisonous bilious green - definitely not a soothing Avocado green. Had to add the black clip as the cord is riveted to the wand up top and passes loosely through a bendable hook just above the clip, in order to separate the two piece wand, for pn servicing maybe. But really, why would you try since one end is riveted and the other enters the PN. :-) I don't want to bend the hook tight.

I names her ELPHABA, as I was reading the book Wicked at the time.
