So, for anyone who knows me...I have a weakness for canister vacuums. Canister's, seem more powerful, can clean some things easier, gives you more stuff to play with and just seem cooler than uprights!!!

CLEARLY I was asleep at the switch as this BEAUTIFUL PANASONIC "Jet-Flo" SPECIAL flew by my Depot o' Vacuums, and I'm just sick. I used to have this VERY model years ago, and when we had the dryer fire it was destroyed along with other machines.

I loved this one especially becasue it was quiet, powerful and worked better than many uprights that I've had.

I just think we all could benefit from it's beautiful look...

I need to find one of these. BAD!!! Talk about a "true" dream machine.

Chad

The whole deal....

Yikes, I feel for you. They seem to be rarer than hens teeth. That's an upscaled model I never knew about with the electronic speed buttons. Mine is the lower model with just the bag full indicator and bag full on/off alrm.

I have one of these but the model is 9430 I believe, same colors but I believe the headlight on the power nozzle is wider, in fact, the power nozzle itself might be 14in. wide, not sure and would have to look for it to check. I have the wands and powernozzle put away in a plastic bag. I have the matching upright as well. I used it briefly after I bought it years ago and remember it being quiet and doing a great job.

model is 9430

That's a higher model number. If I rememeber correctly one of these DID have a wider nozzle and light, and also had a Touch Control Centre on the handgrip portion of the hose.

According to my boss, we sold ALOT of these machines back in the day, whichis a scream becasue I've NEVER seen one here not even for service. I found mine ( the one that was destroyed)... in Lansing in 1998 or so.

This of course (sales of this model of machine)was well before I was even under the spell of being a vacuum salesman. He claims that they had really stiff competition tho from Hoover, Eureka, electrolux and Rainbow not to mention all the catalog houses.

He gave me a very base estimate that he used to sell about 15 of these very machines a month. At 180 machines sold a year, let say for the whole year times two or three years that this model was available or longer this forumula seems to hold some merit to me:

15 (monthly sold) times
12 (months) equals
180 (total machines per year of this model)

If the machine was available for three years let's times
180 (machines per year) times
3 (years) equals
543 machines sold in Washtenaw County.

If TEN percent out of 543 machines would be still extant...That would mean that there are 53-54 machines stillout there to find.

P.S. Im real stanky at math. If that seems wrong say so. I'd like a idea of what I'm looking at for luck...LOL

Just will I be in the right place....????

God I hope so...

Chad

Pete
Love your Panasonic line up. All great machines and in good shape. Great machine from the early 80's. People liked the
price and the perfomance. They were not in retail stores around here at that time. Hence
Vac shops in Columbus were starting to push them new. As they
were lighter weight and as powerful as any Hoover, Eureka electrolux can or tank.

I've got about a dozen of them but only the one canister and I just about fainted when I saw it in the thrift store and in such good condition too. You just don't see them around.
