Nice machine
motor has a nice rich sound
not annoying

only thing I see wrong is the handle release foot pad is really stiff

Here's the blue one I found at the Goodwill or Sally Ann in Barberton OH just up the road from Jimmy S' house during the convention. It must have been fate.. I missed the right turn on his road so made a quick left into a shopping plaza on the left to do a turn around, saw the thrift store, ran in and there it was LOL
I dunno what it is about them I just like em. They're a good allround , easy to use, no muss, quiet upright vacuum

Seems like a good machine. Someone discarded it.
Found 3 working uprights in last few past weeks" A Bissell no bag, a re dirt devil MVP made in US, & this Panasonic..love the color

Some people just get a new one I guess
suction doesn;t draw up the carpet like some of my others but it really sets the nap & fluffs up my 30 yo carpet.
It was free so I;m not complaining

They seem alot like the kenmore Wispertones, Are they the same machine?

Almost identical to the Whispertones, except that some of the Panasonics had metal brush rolls. I don't like the placement of the switch, but the quick draw hose wand is great for edge cleaning!

Suction form the hose is excellent
may be up there close to filter queen
has a grey brushroll
could be metal but bottom plate is plastic not metal as in the ones with the tri force motor

those sound nice!

Plug on cord gets very hot

The cord had been chewed up past insulation in no less than a dozen spots.
Wrapped the exposed sections in electrical tape.
Noticed the plug end gets very hot.
Could it be becasue of all the damage to the cord?

I threw out 2 dirt devils (they came from trash & back they went), Saved the cords so I could change the cord if that would help?

What causes this? Is it potentially dangerous?

Thanks

It's possible. One if you can call it fault with the Panasonics is that running over the cord with the vac is disaster. The cord always gets caught in the brushroll and chewed. Doesn't seem to happen on many other vacs. That could be the reason for all the chews in your cord

plug where it goes into outlet gets very hot

trying to figure if that's bad & why
Thought maybe the insulation being missing under some electrical tape
though perhaps got some wires touching...guess not as it would short.
Can't figure why a plug would get so hot

Don't really want to change cord unless I have to.

If it is just the plug that gets hot, then it has what's called a "hot connection" (hence the heat) in the cord probably where the wires are bonded to the metal prongs. If the entire cord is getting hot, it means that the motor is pulling excessive current. Either way it's bad. If the plug has a bad connection in it, it can eventually get so hot that it will melt the plastic, or even catch on fire. Believe it or not, that's how most house fires start around the holiday season (too many lights plugged into one outlet....too much current......too much heat).

If the wires were touching, it would be a short circuit and would trip your breaker or blow a chunk out of the plug. Either way, there's no mistaking a short circuit!

thanks

think its just the plug & its noticably hot so I'll have to remedy it.
I'll have to watch out for a hot wire can't recall if I've ever noticed that on any of mine

Here's another question..

Does it only do it in one outlet in your house or does it do it in whatever outlet it is plugged into? If it only does it in one plug, it could be due to a weak clamp in that outlet.

My Electrolux does that, I wouldn't say the plug is hot but it does get warm, after it has ran for about 10 or 15 minutes.
