So I was over in fort myers shopping with my mother and ran across this and a kenmore DUO Power. I did not get the duo power cause my partner would have killed me so it was the one I wanted. It actually is in great condition and still has all the "Inspected By" stickers all over. I dont think it was really used and the PN is in great shape too. I think they used it mostly for hard floors as that attachment is always missing on everything I find Down here.

You get today's prize for finding all the neat stuff. I like the upholstery tool on that, as well as the color and style.

MY Great Grandparents had that...

Matthew,

My great Grandparents had that model 1269B for many years. I got it as part of their estate in 1997, along with an earlier Eureka Princess II, which had the Cordaway and a "Vibra-Beat". I'm not sure that the V-B was part of the Princess II package but it was there nonetheless. They bought thiers at Century House Catalog showroom in 1978 for the grand sum of $169.73. It's retail was $229.99 according to the catalog.

Anywhoo- the point is...

The reason that your floor brush is missing is possibly becasue the model you have, as well as my GGParent's had an additional two piece wand that it came with (so you weren't constantly having to take the cord out of the long plastic cord keepers on the powerwand); hence you had the powerwand for rugs, and then the suction wand for floors.

This was of course when the big boys (Hoover, Eureka etc.) still cared and added in stuff for convienence. Anyway... it had that additional two piece wand, plus an L-shaped lower wand to attach to the floor brush.

My grandparents constantly kept thiers that way with the suction wand together, with the floor brush on. And possibly the VERY careful owners who previously owned yours (as you can see by the pic's) did that as well.

They stored it well too the GGParent's. The machine vertical, hose disconnected wrapped around the base of the cleaner. The powerhead sat next to it, and behind that was the wand with the bare floor brush. They were VERY meticulous about things...

Thought # 2 was that the friction fit for the attachments while great when new on the Tool-Pac; wore down over time so all the attachments fell off.

Anyway, great catch.

those were the most amazing canisters. I love them and with that power head it was the best for cleaning. The first vacuum I ever saw and fell in love with was my mom's Eureka just like that but it was in a mustard color and had a wood label powerhead without headlight. I rode on top of it when she vacuumed and at that time she vacuumed three times a day seven days a week. I remember humming with the sound of the motor in that vacuum. It lasted her from 1978 to 1989. I will never forget the day it died. I was four years old in 89 and I was using the hose to clean some of the edges for my Mom and the vacuum just got really loud and then bZZZZT nothing. She loved it so much and was so upset when it died that right then Mom Dad and I piled into the 1972 lime green Impala and went to the department store where she picked out a new Navy blue Eureka Power Team with the deluxe powerhead with a headlight. It think it was about $300.00. Her and I used the hell out of that thing. You see I come from a line of vacuumers, both of my parents liked to vacuum. Anyhow she still has that vacuum to this day. I won't let her use it right now because I want to rebuild the whole thing for her. So she is using the Filter Queen Majestic that my Dad bought new in 1997 for $2000.00. She like it too but not as well.

Get Eureka find. Everything is right on that Chad has told you. The dusting brush and the fabic nozzle with the flip
brush ( as I call it ) were the deluxe tools. Because the
machine had the power control and the Power Nozzle had the
head light. Dose the power Nozzle have a wooden brush roll
with the red beater bars (which they did on catalog machines)
or was it delux all the way with a Vibra groomer I (the steel
one with replacable brush strips) If it was later into the 80's (rather then the 70's)round vibra groomer II with the orange brush strips.
Enjoy
Norm

GGParents Eureka....

Norm,

Theirs did have the wooden "Disturbulator" with the red beaters and the non-replaceable strips. Later, I'm unsure of when, it was replaced with a Vibra-Groomer I Brushroller.

Suprisingly, since they bought theirs at Century House, they used to have it serviced at Ron's Vac Shop in Lansing, which was the last old school vacuum dealer in our town. He was the fact. representitive for Eureka until like 1999 or so when he closed for good.

One thing I cannot STRESS enough is the "stress" that one could put on the hose if you always leave it hooked up as if your using it. Those earlier LARGE rubber grip hoses by Eureka , failed and cracked right at the bend as did any hose like that for that matter, if not stored properly.

My Empress II, that was at the Convention is still perfect shape after 34 years becasue it was probably stored properly. I know I've done it for the last 12 of that time anyway.

And when it's in storage, it's completly off the machine coiled around it just like the GGParents did. They obviously knew something as when the vac was given to me after their estate was closed in 1997, it was still perfect and uncracked. I usually liberally apply my hoses with Armour All as well to keep the vinyl soft and supple. Hasn't done me wrong yet.

Also, If you ever have to "replace" that hose with a later replacement even if genuine Eureka, the powerhead cord is too short, its a brighter white hose, and if you have the old slide latch on the canister like theirs was to hold in the old twist lock hose, the newer one won't fit unless you change the end ferrule.

Not fun if you plan to keep the machine long range. Just a warning if you love that machine and wish to keep it fact. stock.

That said, I see two differences between Matthew's machine and mine... First is his has the later button lock hose. So reguardless the new replacement will fit if needed. secondly, his Tool Pac has the blue stickum on it. Mine has just the plain off white/mother of pearl color, with that Eureka "freckleing" as I call it textured look. It also says TOOL-PAC in relief in black.

Only differences that I can see..

WOW, how cool,,,ive never seen one of these in Blue before. Those hoses with the hand grip are really nice,,,and rare these days. Congrats on getting it!
Im kicking myself for giving away one of these to a friend a few years ago why did i do that!? GRRRRRR
It was exactly the same as this model, only in orange,(and the Tool Pac and attachments were an ivory color, it also had the seperate steel button lock wands for the floor brush),,bought new by an Aunt and Uncle in 1975,,,they also kept it in perfect condition, other than they had hung the hose on a hook, which left a permanent bend in it,,,but i do remember this vacuum having tremendous power,,even the Cordaway spring was so strong and tight,,it whipped the cord back in so fast you had to stay clear of it, or you'd get hurt!
With a hepa type bag and filter,Vibra Groomer brushroll and new belt,,,i would think even today, this vacuum would be a top performer.
Thanks for sharing the pic!

Wow, the more I look at that

The more I like it.
The color is the same blue used on the later 1458 series Upright.

I'm not a Eureka expert, but that looks to me like an EARLY Eureka p/n canister, not quite TOL but close. Their TOL model would have been a canned ham.
This one looks very nice, congrats on a great find!

That is a great find, grandma used to have one like it except in a dark chesnut brown with the power head in the same color. It died about 2 years ago.

inspected by =)

No it has the metal brush roll with the inspection sticker still on it. She is a bute I love it so quiet and comfortable to use. I was so torn between this and the kenmore duo power but I love blue and I have wanted one of these forever.

Storage

I store all my pns with the hose as relaxed and natural as possible and as well by keeping them well oiled with a plastic protectant. I do not store upright.

I've had one of that type before. It really performed well. The person I sold it to 20 years ago is still using it and sings its praises !

Matthew:
I have a similar PowerTeam in forest green. It has the tool caddy on top and is covered by a smoke-colored dust cover. I love this vacuum!

What a beautiful Eureka! Love the ultra-soft deluxe horse-hair dusting brush. You can still get this brush (in black) through Electrolux of North America.

The first version of this (1973, in burnt orange) was one of the top-rated power-nozzle canister vacs in Consumer Reports testing in 1974. It actually deep cleans carpets with excellence.....

*drools* :-)
