Hi all well I have a like new maroon royal,I do have a question about it. When the head lamp is lifted there are two slots and a small tray is something suppose to cover these openings? on kirby's there is a suction relief vent that you can open or close but on this royal it has two open slots and a tray with holes, i would think this would lower the cleaning performance.

tray

that tray area, from what I understand, is where one can place fragrance tablets to filter through the bag. That is what my aunt did when she had her Royal.

Yes

When you purchased a new Royal upright with this function, they supplied you with a small supply of small packets of fragrance bits that you put in the chamber. The heat and small amount of suction flow through this option from the motor would process the aroma through the system and out the bag. They can be bought at Royal Dealers today.
