OK. So I went to register the name of my new shop and the ladies at the county office argued with me that I spelled vacuum wrong. They said she needed me to change it to VACUME. Sorry I just needed to vent.

You should have told her to look it up in the dictionary!

How maddening

I'm sure you thought of this, but you should go to their bosses and tell them you will not post a glaring spelling error on your business, and make those "ladies" eat dirt. These are the kind of people that work in our county offices? Or, use words that they can spell, if any. Or have they ever seen signs or ads with deliberately misspelled words like EZ Kleen, Dandee, or similar items?

Oh Brother.......

just this afternoon on CNN, the news anchor used a word I've never heard before. "Undisconnected".

There is a restaurant in Sarasota Florida that has a huge sign proclaiming "Belgium" waffles. I had hoped during the outbreak of hurricanes a few summers ago, the sign would have blown down. It held fast through the storms.

These blunders can be like fingernails on a chalk board. Oh well, they make things interesting! LOL.

I saw a mattress sign in Philly stating that they "deliver to the POCONO'S". I went in and asked, "Pocono's WHAT?". The apostrophe is not for "plural". I told here that the "poconos" were an Indian tribe. I then asked if the realy PAID MONEY to have someone make that sign. I told her I live at the base of the poconos, and that it was embarrassing to see a business have signs like that. Later, she scraped off the apostrophe. Am I awful????

No, I don't think you are awful. If people aren't told about mistakes, then how will they ever learn?
