Hello all!!!! :D I'm Jim or James BTW, James C. Gockel is my full Name for those wondering and I've been a Vacuum LOVER for 20 Years or so, maybe 25, but only started Collecting this Year, as my Family and Friends NEVER Supported, let alone Understood this Hobbie of mine when I was younger, so here I am now... ;) It's a real SHAME to that I could only start Collecting now, as I've had 100's of AMAZING Machine's over the Years, plus some SUPER RARE Vintage Vacuums, that I have NO CHANCE EVER of Replacing now, which when I was younger, were CARELESSLY THROWN AWAY and SOLD by my Mom and Dad, even though I ALWAYS did the Vacuuming in my House, not to mention MANY other's, so. :(

Anyway... I just found another Hoover Convertible for my Collection on ebay this Morning, Hoover Convertible Model U4047 and after talking to the Seller's of this WONDERFUL Machine, they decided that since they just want to get Rid of it and ASAP, they would End the ebay Listing and just Sell it to me now, so I was wondering if any of you had any Info on this Vintage Convertible, an early 70's Model I believe it to be, like my 1076 is and some more Photos or something, as although the Vacuum looks to be Pink or Salmon in the Photos, it's really hard to tell you know, so anything you Guys can tell me about it or show me, would be much Appreciated, THANKS!!!! :D

BTW... Here are the 3 Photos from the ebay Listing, so you can can all see what I'm talking about and everything... ;)

I have the one that has the other orange tone. I forget the name of the color but it is a little brighter. I think it might be the 1976 version.

THANKS Guys!!!! :D

WOW, I can't believe how FAST I got Replies here, lol!

Anyway, sadly Guys, I don't think I will be able to Purchase this BEAUTIFUL Machine, as even though the Seller's already told me that I could Buy this Vacuum now for only $20-$25, when I went back to ebay, to check and see if they Ended the Auction for me, or to see if anyone else tried Bidding, I saw that the Seller Canceled my Bid. :( It says for the reason my Bid was Canceled, that my Bid was INSULTING, so what does that mean? :/ You know, it's like I already told you all, that the Seller's said I could just Buy it already and I did get an email from them, asking me if I am the Bid on the Vacuum now, which I just Replied to, so I don't understand this and have a feeling, a BAD feeling these Seller's have decided not to Sell me this WONDERFUL Machine. :( I dunno, we'll just have to see if they email me back or what happens with the Auction you know...? Maybe, maybe they didn't know it was me Bidding and Canceled it because they already told me in email I could Buy the Vacuum, but I'm not too sure now? :/

I sure HOPE I get it, as I think it would look GREAT next to my ALL ORIGINAL Hoover Convertible Deluxe 1076, which I got off ebay maybe two Weeks ago... ;)

Also...

I forgot to mention as well, that I even have a Set of Original Hoover Convertible Tools, which I recently Won off ebay for only $13.50, that I Bought for my 1076 Convertible, but I think they would also fit this Convertible U4047, so that makes me want it even more. :(

I know with this Model only having a 1-Speed Motor, that the Suction wouldn't be all that great, nothing like what my two Kirby's have, lol, but still, you know, I REALLY like the Convertible's Tools and it's just EXTREMELY FUN using them for some reason or another, lol, I dunno, there's just something about these Vintage Hoover Convertible's you know... ;) I LOVE em!!!!!!!! :D

I ESPECIALLY LOVE the Pink and Salmon Color Convertible's for some reason I don't understand, lol, there's just something about that Color on a Convertible you know and I WANT MORE THEN ANYTHING to be able to find a Pink or Salmon Color one you know, but unfortunately, I keep missing out on them all. :(

Oh well, maybe some Day, but for now, here is a Photo of the Vintage Convertible Tools I Won off ebay, ENJOY!!!! :D

Aw!!! man Jim that's not right....

I think what happen unfortunately Jim is that the seller found someone else who offered more for the Hoover and instead of being an upstanding person and selling it to you like they should have they gave you the shaft to get more money for it. that might explain why they said your bid was insulting. DAMN! that's pretty sleazy if you ask me....and yes WELCOME TO VACUUMLAND!!!!!

Post# 47505 , Reply# 11   7/30/2008 at 16:45 (5,719 days old) by moparhemipower ()
No new Convertible for me. :(

THANKS Jeff and appliguy for the GREAT WARM WELCOME here!!!! :D And yes Jeff, my 1076 does look pretty good, sorta MINT, almost NEW looking some may say, EXCEPT for the WARPED Headlight Lens of course, BUT it is the Original Lens for my 1076, which was IMPORTANT for me, so after Hot Gluing it in place, so it would stay PUT, lol, I THINK I'll leave it alone for a while you know, I mean, I ALWAYS PREFER ALL ORIGINAL Vacuums to other's and since my 1076 has near FLAWLESS Paint and all, I think I'll just leave it be for now and continue to use it EVERY Day, as I TRULY LOVE this Machine, it's my FAVORITE and has the BEST Sound EVER, plus is almost SILENT to Boot... ;) I REALLY DO LOVE IT, lol! Look for a Post with more Photos of it some time soon here... ;)

ANYWAY, as far as the U4047 goes, no Guys, SADLY, I won't be Buying it, in fact, the one Seller of it "Ira", took it off ebay COMPLETELY without Selling it at all, so I dunno what his problem is. :( I mean, even after he Canceled out my Bid, another Guy went and put a Bid on the Vacuum and guess what, he Canceled out that Bid to, then pulled the Machine off ebay COMPLETELY, saying the other Bidder had a BAD Attitude or something...? :/

You know, I even got some NASTY email's from him this Morning to, saying all of a sudden, how INSULTING my Offer was, that these old Hoover's ALWAYS Sell for well over $1,000 + and how if I didn't Pay him $500 for it this Minute, he would NEVER Sell it to me no matter if I Bid again and Won the Auction when it ended or not. :( OMG, WHAT NERVE HE HAS AND I MEAN, HE CAN'T SERIOUSLY DO THAT, can he?

Needless to say Guys, you will all see a Post about this all sometime today, as I'm REALLY Upset about this whole mess you know, I mean, I REALLY wanted that Convertible to and thought I was gonna get a GREAT Deal on it. :(

Did I mention also, how Ira's Wife even emailed me early yesterday, saying that if I just Paid Shipping on the Vacuum, which they only wanted $20, that I could just have it, as she really wanted to get it out of her House and NOW!!!! She referred to it as a PIECE OF JUNK to I might add, but of course, Ira wasn't about to let that happen now. :(

I didn't want to put this in, but what those idiots did to you for a $30.00 vacuum cleaner is obscene. They should be reported to eBay. I found this after I looked a couple of times. They have 11 complaints out of several hundred "happy" customers. But their negative feedback screams volumes. Somebody should ask them what kind of scam they're running, but then there would be more psycho email you or the writer doesn't need.

Yeah, I'm from PA to, near Pittsburgh actually... ;)

Oh and kirbyboy1, I will email you ASAP, but first, I want to check out ebay a little, so I can see if I can find another Convertible, that will go with my 1076, but I doubt I will, I really doubt I will, not like that U4047 I found anyway. :(

Oh and in case I don't get back to you right away, you can always email me at MOPAR-JIM@comcast.net

I'd LOVE to talk Vacuums sometime to, as really, I don't have anyone I can with at the moment and have even LOST some Friends because I like Vacuums so much. :(

Later!

UNFORTUNATELY,

Alan and Patrick are correct. This guy is lower than whale sh!t and should be reported. In additon, I think the 60's were a little too good to him (seller, Ira) if he honestly thinks there's a snowball's chance in Hell of his gem selling in the hundreds, let alone thousands! Perhaps he should share what he is ingesting, though I don't imbibe myslef!! Jim, hang in there, watch his 'gem' continue to go unsold over and over again, and SHOULD he decide to list it for a realistic number in the future, have a friend bid on it for you for purposes of anonimity. Best of luck and WELCOME!
Rick

THANKS arh1953!!!!!!!! :D

I'm VERY glad you Posted this, as it shows EVERYONE here what I have been talking about you know, I mean, do you see what the Seller "Ira" wants for this Vacuum now, do you see???? I mean, they started out only wanting $20-$25 from me for it, Heck, even his Wife emailed me saying she just wanted to get Rid of it and would let me have it for the Price of Shipping, but now, now, I just don't understand people like that you know...? :/

Again, THANKS SO MUCH for Posting this up, as anyone who reads these Post here, will know not to Buy this Vacuum from this Seller now, as none of us need to deal with people like that you know. :(

I will admit though, that I still REALLY WANT this Vacuum, but I'm sure you'll all agree that Buying it from them now, ESPECIALLY at that Price, would just be INSANE and STUPID, plus look at their Feedback just like you said arh1953, just AWFUL. :(

I honestly Wish I never Found and Posted about this Vacuum now, but at least it will warn the rest of you all to stay away from these people on ebay... ;)

Later!

THANKS Rick, you are 100% CORRECT!!!! :D

I couldn't have said it better myself... ;) But yeah, as you said, I would have to have a Friend Bid on it or something, as you all know, the Second I show any Interest again, the Price will go up, up, up. :(

Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned to him that I was a Vacuum Collector and LOVED Hoover Convertible's...? :/

Oh well, it's not like that Convertible is my Dream Machine or anything like that, I mean, I just wanted it you know, but what I'm really looking for is an 80's Sears Kenmore Twin Fan Upright, as I grew up around A LOT of those and had a few myself, before my Mom Threw Out and Sold all of mine thinking they didn't work or something. :( In fact, only a few Years ago, I had a BEAUTIFUL Sears Kenmore Twin Fan Two Speed Magicord Upright Vacuum that was Self-Propelled, which my Parents Bought BRAND NEW from Sears in the late 80's, I even still have Bags and a Book for it, but AGAIN, my Mom thought it didn't work and JUNKED it. :(

I also REALLY want a Pink or Salmon Color Convertible like this one here, which I didn't see till the last moment on ebay and missed out on. :(

Here's a Photo-

I couldn't find it for a while either. This man and or his wife are the kind of people who will bend over backward to please someone, sweetness and light, until you have a complaint-then the claws come out! I found that out last year with a deal I tried. Bottom line, never got the package, the minute I did get a refund, he "found" the package and posted it at twice what I paid! Then claimed I received it and sent it back demanding my money. I told the winner of the bid what he did, and reported him to eBay. I have not tried eBay since then, except to look for the thing I want more than anything in the world.

Oh...

And some Member of this WONDERFUL Site has this BEAUTIFUL Machine as well, which would be a PERFECT Match to my 1076... ;)

THANKS again Alan!!!! :D

Yeah, I understand, as I've had my fair share of problems on ebay and HATE the place because of them, BUT I am Disabled and don't get out much anymore, so unfortunately, I spend A LOT of time Shopping there, you just have to know who to deal with and who not, plus it helps to make some Friends on ebay to, like this SUPER Nice Lady from Ohio who Sells Kirby's, Parts and all!!!! :D Her Name is Marci Lee and I can't begin to tell you about all the GREAT Deals I've gotten from her on Parts for my Kirby's, including a few Free Parts to Boot, so yeah, it helps to make Friends on ebay... ;)

BTW, for those wondering how many Convertible's I have, well, sadly, I only have 3 right now. :( Yeah, there's my 1076, which you have all seen and two 80's Model Convertible's which I have Pictured here-

Also, the Orange Base Model one you see is up for Trade... ;) Even though it's Runs and Sounds like NEW and looks almost so, I dunno, I just don't use it much at all, other then in my Kitchen, so I thought maybe I could Trade it off for another Vac, like an older Convertible or a Sears Kenmore Twin Fan Upright, like I've been looking for you know, but we'll see... ;)

I have the Convertible on the right, I found it in Goodwill last year for $8.00. Ira is a total wack job, unhappily there are a lot of them who sell, buy, collect, it is a major game to a lot of people to be tenacious, cruel, competitive. Maybe later I'll explain in the off-topic site.

Hey,
Welcome to the site, I am also from around Pittsburgh and if you want you can email me at sammyg1212@yahoo.com and we can talk. I also love convertibles and the Kenmore Twin Fan uprights which I cant find any. I cant believe Ira is so ignorant and the other convertible you showed I didn't like those people I bought a Concept power drive from them and they were pissed and gave me bad feedback and sent me nasty emails because I gave negative feedback because there were multiple holes in the bag and the machine was filthy and had carpet fresh power caked on it almost an inch thick. They said that it was in great condition and were mad when I called them on it.
