I saw a hoover citation on ebay for 99 cents starting bid that may or may not work. It has no cord but what I was wandering is if it does not work is it possible to find a motor for it or will a convertible motor fit and is it easy to do this?
I just wanted to know before I bid because i dont want to bid if I cant fix it if it dosen't work.

is the bag on the Citation made out of the same vinyl material as the convertible 65? If so, I would think then finding one of these cleaners with the original bag is somewhat of a rarity....

Model 64

with its original bag is definitely a rarity!
Working or not, thats a treasure!
Any motor from a model 60-63, and model 29 will work in a Citation. Convertible motors will not.

How hard is it to find an appropriate motor that will work in it?

I was looking at the same Hoover. Then I saw the cord cut off, no problem. Then I looked a bit more and wondered if the whole machine had been under water? As the orginal bag looked like it had water marks about 2/3's of the way up the
bag. Then the pics of the underneath and beater bar looked
a little unsettling. It was strange too how different the Hood looked. Like it was purple in the picture and the bag
looked like it was Pink ? Just my reaction ! Guess I'll go
look again.
May be that I'm the one that's all wet! LOL !

for my 2¢, I had a beautiful Citation once upon a time. I do not believe that that's what this machine is. If it is, then it has been painted at some time. The two colors for the citation were a very light grayish-white and a dusty rose color. The hood on this machine is lavender or light purple in color.

What I would do in a case like this, say, were it an old Kirby that's a mess but has a nice bag, is email the seller and ask nicely:

"Hello, if I am the winning bidder on this Hoover, would you be willing to send me just the bag assembly and do with the rest as you wish? This will mean less packing and shipping hassle for you, and a substantial saving on shipping cost for me. I will of course be willing to pay my full bid amount. Thanks."

... and see how it goes.

I was thinking the same thing as I look at it more that something may not be right with all of those stains and the rusty underneath. Now if only I could find one as nice as the one charles had.

I think that the color problem might be the lighting or the camera.
Compared to what others charge for shipping it should be worth the parts even if it won't run. Most of the parts for these are hard to come by nowadays.
Just my two cents.
