The Conquest...

Is not the prettiest machine on the market... but I have seen uglier!

The Conquest is definitely a workhorse! And they're soooo rebuildable! We still have first-generation machines coming in for regular service.

Per Jeff Parker, it came out in about 1983... how many other cleaners on the market today (other than the Hoover Guardsman and PortaPower or the Sanitaire line) has any company been making for that long?

The one in the above link is an eeeeearly one, as it has a two-piece handle... that wasn't around for too long.

I do love my Conquest... my only wish is that the bristles on the brushroll were a bit stiffer (for my current carpet situation). I think they're moreso meant to clean lower pile carpeting.

well i bought one of the machines in the listing and am pleased as punch! the bristles seem to be as stiff as the red ones on my Guardsman. after i switched the dirt cup for a cloth bag, it became quiet, just like a Hoover should. i think the machine is a fitting follow-up to the 90-series. they both have a brute-ness/utilitarian feel that i like. and of course, its hard to find a cleaner that can clean like the true-blue Hoover that is the Conquest!

We have a Sanitaire...

at my church. It works well. The bag is essentially the same as that Hoover. We had a Royal, but I don't know what happened to it... It had the orange bag.
