Some friends from Galena that attend the Sinsinawa Organ concerts with me, gave this vacuum to Mark and I for our anniversary.

I know it is the later plastic model, but for some reason I really like this vacuum. I put new bearings in the brushroll, took her all apart, washed her up, waxed her and she came back to life. The A bag system is a huge improvement of the C and it cleans very well...well almost as good as my Oreck XL 21.......ducks and runs as far from North Canton as possible...

Morgan, what a nice anniversary present! I have the same exact convertible in my collection too! I wonder why this particular model did not have the Hoover emblem on the base?

I'm sure any Convertible could out clean any Oreck... what a nice looker! I love the huge headlight on these models. What a great present!

I wouldn't have even noticed the missing emblem if it hadn't been pointed out!

Morgan,
I like that blue Hoover too. It reminds me of the old blue Hoover from the early 50's. When you look at the Convertible models through the years you can sure see where Hoover kept making them cheaper and cheaper and cheaper. I had noticed on the later Convertibles they just had a cheap decal and they even didn't even bother to paint the bag spring. I do love the color and the nice hand grip. What a thoughtful gift!

Ooh!

Congrats, Morgan...

That is one of my favorite "plastique" machines. The shades of blue are quite lovely, and I dig that striped bag. You should try it with a Cleveland Wood Products brushroll in it, and a Micro Filtration type A bag... it'll TEAR your carpet up!

That's actually the model my grandmother on my father's side of the family was given as a gift in the 80's, by her two youngest sons. It was to replace a Compact from the 50's.

I now own the cleaner--after it trickled through the family for a few years--and am quite pleased to have grandma's vacuum. :-)

I remember being little, and helping her change the bag... and her pulling it out of the closet when she would babysit me--so I could presumably be amused for hours...

:-)

Yes, no emblem. It's plugged in at all times. I use it in the cats' apartment. Yes. It's a room with a bed, 2 litter boxes, two food bowls and a bowl of Brita filtered water, on a vinyl tablecloth. It's a great cleaner. Mine came from Wanamaker's Dept store in Philly.

I had the exact same machine also. I got it for 50 cents at an auction rather rough and a hole worn through the front of the bag where ther top of the fill tube rested. It was nice but for some reason I like the type C bags better than the type A bags.

just my kind of Hoover.....

This is exactly the kind of Hoover I really like and keep looking for. I have one, its missing the front lens over the light, but in my area these vacs just don't show-up for sale very often.
