Well, it's like this, Daddy. Mommy was selling that old blue 1950 Westinghouse T-4 door to door. This is the new improved T-6 in a wonderful shade of Silvery Frosted Maroon. All I had to do was bojack a dark red Kirby hose instead of that awful leaking yellowed one that clashed so horribly. :-)

Ok, so maybe the Red hose is a bit tooooo red but it'll do for now.

This is what the hose should look like, in maroon. and I'm gonna have to find the polished floor nozzle. and dusting brush, and moth canister. and a maroon cord would look nicer than the original thick black....

Has a cloth bag and had a Eureka branded bag inside that also fits the Filtex. Trimming a compact bag rim might just fit the circle seal.

And right about now, Lucy would have one of her patented spaz attacks, back up in some kind of perceived terror attack, and the beautiful new T6 would go crashing to its death, or smash Fred's skull while he is leaning over on the ground floor trying to do landlord stuff. The whole ensemble looks stunning, BTW.

Why the Westinghouse?

aeoliandave's profile picture
To begin with, I love that Machine Age handle with the Buck Rogers 'cooling fins'. I like the way the angled runners are offset to the rear but in fact are supporting the weight center of the motor, giving it that 'about to take off' attitude. The earlier 1950 T-4 that Lucy was selling has a round bullet nose with the hose outlest in the center; the T-6's nose is reshaped with the hose inlet toward the top, again setting it apart from the usual 'torpedo' vacuum cleaner. The frosty mauve color does the same thing - this baby has simple refined functional form style up the wazoo, like the Monitor vacuum in blue with the sensuous one piece aluminum cast handle and full length side spear trim that hugs the curve of the motor & bag ends as they narrow toward the inlet and exhaust ports.

A shame I can't make it to the Convention, Norm. I can neatly pack two stacked rows of 5 cylinders in the trunk. But that week & weekend I will be immersed in dress rehearsals & previews for our final show here, Shaw's Caesar & Cleopatra (with Chris Plummer, no less), as well as being on the backstage crew of 3 of the 4 shows already in repertory at the main stage.

Just really unfortunate timing...a week earlier and I'd be there.

Christopher Plummer!!!???

Any chance of getting an autograph!?!? :-)

Gosh, The Sound of Music is my ALL TIME favorite movie.
...And the first movie I remember falling in love with when I was a little kid. Good times!

LoL!

Gorgeous Westinghouse, BTW.

I love Christopher Plummer's performance in The Sound of Music, and love the movie in general, but he has said he disliked the movie and his performance. I believe he calls it "The Sound of Mucous"! Well, it wasn't THAT bad, Chris. Must have been a rough period in his life.

That movie has brought smiles to faces for over 40 years. I will occasionally break out into "Edelweis" when I am driving, alone. If I were him, I'd take great pride in that.
