Just got back from Toronto yesterday and hit the local Goodwill here today and found this Electrolux AP100 with attachments. Oddly it was packed under a table in a Panasonic canister box. |

Even your doggy is admiring it. I know we can't leave these things behind vanquished to become disregarded in the hands of those who could care less as its JUST a vacuum |

That crevice tool looks kinda banged up...is that duct tape holding the tip together? I have a spare matching crevice tool for ya, Pete and yer gonna need a carpet nozzle to fill out the CarryAll Caddy. Nice find - these are the first Canadian models 1973-76 after the 80 series. Mostly metal under all that durable fleshtone plastic. The AP that preceed it is all one colour, the AP100 has the white top and the next AP200 has a jaundice yellow body. |

Man, how do you find all the good stuff. I've been wanting an Electrolux real bad. We had one when I was growing up. Maybe some day. Very nice find there! |

That's a good sign, Pete. means the problem is in the accessable contacts. Handgrip swivels around the hose, right? There are two slip rings and matching contacts under that long piece that used to be used for the microswitch. There's a tiny -1/16" pin that holds the base in place along with the screw at the plug end. Ease the pin out with a 1/16" pin driver, allan key or a trim nail in vicegrips. The contacts are probably just greasy dirty or a contact spring needs bending. Clean up those rings with lighter fluid on a cloth while spinning. Perhaps some emory paper but don't use steel wool as particles will migrate inside causing a short eventually. Well, you know all that. If the slipring has grooves in it move the contacts a bit off to the side. |

Hey Pete: It appears that its an AP200 (yellow) Pn you have with it in the pic. Put a PN100 cover on the list of things for me to send you (send the list with Dave if he gets down this way this year) LOL. The accessory kits were made to be either carried around or wall mounted. The small slot above the handle matches up with a hook on the bottom of the kit so you could mount one on the closet wall (via the screw slots) to hold bags etc then hook a second one for the parts on below it. In that way you could take the parts with you. You'll notice it also has low sides and a higher front. That was so that the hose could be hung over it. I've also seen them screwed together back to back, in the fashion of the older cardboard kits to make a larger kit to handle all the cleaning supplies. Doug |
