I think that's a bit newer than '60s. My guess is '80s or '90s. Looks good! Good luck!

~~K~~

5.5 amps

5.5 hp might rip the carpet off the floor
LOL

suction is fine
picked up even with belt not on brushroll

Kirbys were 5 amps

Nice find. I have the 1945a in my collection with the 5.0 amp motor and same colors and style. It cleans great and could be the best carpet cleaner in my collection. The last thing I need to do to it is get a new belt pulley on it and it should work great.

I am pretty sure this is 80's. I love the edge cleaning on these things and they are so light and easy to push.

Post# 41906 , Reply# 11   5/29/2008 at 23:21 (5,782 days old) by lux1521 ()

A Hoover belt won't work. It's too small.

I think your going to be supprised by how well it cleans when you get a belt on it. These Eurekas are just amazing on carpets.

Post# 41909 , Reply# 12   5/29/2008 at 23:23 (5,782 days old) by camelotshadow (Valley Village)
It is light

bag attaches with screws
not that convienent
has the f&g tube n spring attah inside
love the brushroll

its a high performance vac
light
Will have to wait til bag dries & I pop on a belt & bag & give her a test run

bet it really beats the carpet

LOL

My feeling is its 1976

Post# 41910 , Reply# 13   5/29/2008 at 23:25 (5,782 days old) by camelotshadow (Valley Village)
Thanks

I'll take a trip to ye vac store & bug em
LOL

I have the old stretched hoover belt from the 63
might try

looks about the same to me
but good to know

I hope they aren't too hard to find

Post# 41911 , Reply# 14   5/29/2008 at 23:32 (5,782 days old) by lux1521 ()

The belt you need should be one of the most common on the market. They are still used on a number of current Eureka models.

The stretched Hoover belt would probably work just fine if you want to try that.

Hmmm

the hoover belt will work just fine. I use them all the time because the eureka belts stretch too easily. I think.

Post# 41961 , Reply# 24   5/30/2008 at 11:38 (5,781 days old) by swingette ()

thats an 80s Eureka. The plastic handle and lack of Eureka logo with the stylized "E" is a dead giveaway.

also, that "Vibra-Groomer II" is most likely sleeve bearing. Eureka only used ball bearings on the commercial models and select upscale home models. you will want to make sure the Hoover belt is not too tight as the bearings on these brushrolls are not the best and tend to wear out.

looks as if excellent condition!

I have the Kmart version of the Eureka 1945B upright...Mine is the 632B upright.

Post# 41969 , Reply# 26   5/30/2008 at 13:07 (5,781 days old) by camelotshadow (Valley Village)
%Thanks

This belt was very stretchy
I could pull it on wo too much trouble
I had a real hard time installing a belt I got at the vac store on the hoover 63
It was not stretchy at all

So I would hope the give in the belt will be ok for the machine
Can't really see a belt being much looser
it really did fit on it quite good...

I don't like the plastic handle
but it does work well & is in good condition
so I took a chance on it as not to be one of them regrets.

Bag was quite full when I got it
Someone really used it
but it doesn't look like it was used more than a few times

Bag is supple

It really does pick up
you can hear whats coming out of the carpet & its not as if I haven't really cleaned them.

well, its fun & is a great nap groomer

Oh wow!

It is so beautiful with that massive, puffy bag! Good job!

Thanks, its a happy vac...LOL

Oh, did I see your brown 6.5 out on the curb for its farewell pic?

Really a great cleaner
Still surprised

Not that I need another vac
seems each one has its strong points

Kirby has that heavy feel & well its a kirby

Hoover...mmm beats

this vibrates the dirt
watched a bird crumble move an inch into its path
& its a great groomer..

so happy find
decent price

but I have too many vacs
I'm having trouble finding floorspace to use them

OHhhhhhhhhhhh will have to work on that

Got the ESP Same Good will

LOL

model think 2061D

Cleaned it up so its presentable

yikes talk about hair & vac abuse

Popped on a new belt
bag is drying
Will give it a test run later

So now I got 2
but they are real good sweepers & I am a vac junkie
Can't leave a good vac in need

LOL

2062 D ESP Works good

Great groomer sweepers

Still the 6.5 amp is a bit louder
think I like the 5.5 sound better

Wondering about the dates on these things

Had most of it apart
but couldn't get dial a nap knob off to left the cover
darn
well did my best on it & blew it out

Has sort of a star shaped screw?
I had 2 star tools but none big enough

Definitely a takeoff of Hoover

Can see similarities to the 63
but that lovely has a screwed on hood
not spring loaded
But that was the 50's

Alas they sure could build em back them.

We;ve come so far to go backwards!

Christine,
That is a nice Eureka. It is from the 1908's maybe even to early 90's I remember they had them at K-Mart with that bag pattern in different colors into early 90's.
The Hoover Belts work even though they are a little smaller. That is what I use because I have more convertibles and it is easier buying one less part.
I love mine too I just got the ESP Boss which is the version of this from the mid-late 90's it's great except for cheap plastic handle.
As for your dilemma on having too many vacuums and not enough floor space I keep different vacuums in each room and I use a different one every day when I vacuum.
Hope you enjoy your new find.

Your New ESP

looks just like my old one that I posted above. Great find

Post# 43727 , Reply# 37   6/13/2008 at 21:14 (5,767 days old) by camelotshadow (Valley Village)
I got eureka belts

99 cents store

2 for $1

Can;t go wrong

Actually seems to be as same as the hoover 48 belt but
the eureka is not as stretchy

go figure!

Maybe it doesn't look like it but spent 5 hours cleaning it

This morning I took it for a spin
fluffed & ate up gremlins in the carpet

takes fng bags
which I have
had the belt.

I got too many with Gv & filter queen on the way

LOL

I'll probably trade it or sell it but

I couldn;t leave that poor ESP in the goodwill
Poor tortured vac in its state of need

I don't mind some dirt & time to help bring a good vac back to being useful

Looks like original belt was on it
They used it til the hair got so thick it pushed the belt into the base plate so it wouldn't spin
even then it tried burning rubber....

Then they tossed it

OOOh the vacmanity

They aren't Kirby's or old Hoovers
but they got a nice metal brushroll & really do suck & fluff carpet
