Hoover Spectrum 800

This is a common question that gets posed to the group quite often, someone is either looking to sell a vintage vacuum they�ve owned for a while but don�t need, or inherited from a loved one, etc. The truth is there�s not a definitive value one can place on a machine. A lot of the value you will find rests in how complete the machine is, if it runs well, when was it last serviced, how many of that model was made, and so forth. If it�s a rare model that didn�t have many made, you�re going to have more people interested in it than if it�s a model that was made by the millions. Another factor is personal preference. Sadly these days, you�re going to be hard pressed to sell a used vacuum to the general public for a lot of money, because they can go to a big box store and get an �el cheapo� plasti-vac for hardly nothing, use it until it dies or stops up, and toss it. An older machine like yours will be an easier sell among collectors such as us, and that�s where the personal brand preferences come in. What might be only worth $5 to one person might be worth $50 or more to another person!

Now, that was a mouthful, but with that said, do you have an idea in your head what you might want for your vacuum? It looks to be complete and in very good condition for its age. I have no idea how many were made, someone with more Hoover knowledge than I have could tell you that. Another possibility would be to place it on an auction site such as eBay or Everything But the House, and let the buyers decide the value, you could even set a minimum reserve so if it didn�t reach the minimum price you had to have out of it, it didn�t sell. Just my two cents worth at 3:14 AM!
