Well today has been a very great day today! I happen to get 2 new additions to my collection and I have to say this year has been great for me so far! First vacuum I got is a Kirby Classic 1-CR I unexpectedly got at a Kirby store out at Plano and I really love it because I was only there to buy Kirby pet shampoo for my rug renovator, which I did got, but I happen to see several vintage Kirbys in a very decent price! They were several Classic 1-CRs, Omegas, IIIs, Traditions, Heritage I, II, and a 518! The 518, Classics, and Traditions were $25 each, Heritages $50 and $75. I felt like I was dreaming! Whenever my family and I move to a new house soon, I’ll go back there and buy a Tradition and Heritage! And lastly I got this gem from eBay I won for $50 + $50 shipping, a beautiful Hoover Custom Convertible U4007! I was one of the 9 watchers and I couldn’t pass this baby up! I always wanted one with this style hood and really love the 70’s yellow flower design on the vinyl bag! Both vacuums work excellent! Another thing, the Kirby marks my 50th vacuum cleaner! The Hoover was supposed to be my 50th but that’s life!

Cute little logo on the zipper. And soon I’m going to replace the 2 row brushroll with a 4 row! And it has a new belt installed already!

The serial number starts with the letter T, made around January/December 1971. And the last time this vacuum has been serviced was in February 1993.

Glad to see you found the Plano shop and the cool stuff inside. Swell folks who own the place. Did you see all the parts units stacked in boxes in the back? 25 each and bulk discounts for more than 1! I think he had a 10 for 100 deal going on at one time, lol...

TexasKirbyguy, yes it was a nice vac shop. They also have nice paintings for display and I’m looking forward to get another vintage Kirby over there soon!

If you search on Ebay for Kirby Classic headlight trim, you will find the trim. Yours is missing the nub

to hold it in place.  The sellar has the one for the 1cr and also the rosewood model. It is like 3.99 plus

3 something for shipping.

Your 50th machine is a Cassic, well my first vacuum ever was a Classic! A machine of significance to me too!

I can remember when the Kirby Classic was the latest model in the early 70's. My Grandmother bought us a new Kirby in January of 1972 after she ripped a hole in the bag on her/our model 519 and promised to have my vacuum working like new by the following weekend.

She was true to her word. By the following weekend I had an New Kirby Classic to entertain with. Brave lady to hand over a $350.00 vacuum to a 5 yr old only a few days after purchasing it.
