A month ago, I purchased this Bissell Lift-Off 3554B brand new from a vacuum store in Nevada for $286. Originally I found this on Amazon but I contacted the place and they offered me free shipping since I purchased it from them rather than having to pay shipping through Amazon. It's still in it's original box, has the instruction and warranty work, all of the attachments and an extra belt that it came with. Overall, it still runs and it actually sounds smooth despite being in the box for over 15 years I would say. I'm really glad that I found this, I've been after one of these for a long time and I'm actually shock that this place still had one of these. They had two different models, 3554 which is purple and 3554B which is black. I bought the black one because I like the color better. And they also supply parts for these such as bags, belts, filters, brushrolls, motors, etc. Anyways just thought that I would share this here to y'all.

That is awesome! I wanted one of these but the opportunity never arose. How is the performance? Is this a loud vacuum?

Congratulations Alex!

That is a very nice Bissell, I miss this model and always thought the “Lift Off” feature was so cool.

Please let us know how you like it after vacuuming for a while with it and more pictures would be nice too if you have time. Enjoy your excellent purchase and thank you for sharing!

Patrick

Nice find. I have an older model of these in maroon, maybe 10 amps or 9 amps? I forget. Mine looks similar to that but it doesn't have the filter on the front and it has a two position slider switch, instead of the rocker switch, with one being just the vacuum motor or two being with vacuum motor and brush motor.

Also mine either didn't come with the dusting brush or the upholstery tool is a combo tool that's missing the dusting brush part, not sure.

Oh and it doesn't have the foam or rubber piece on the handle.

Nice find though, it's cool they still sell replacement parts for these.

If you wish to still find one of these, email me and I can give you the info of this place instead of you having to pay shipping through Amazon.

These were pretty good vacuums. I remember them when they first came out in the early/mid 90s. I wanted one so bad

I remember a tv commercial where a woman is using it to clean a museum and she's vacuuming the fur on a whooly mammoth.

I was always fascinated by these growing up. Bissell had an idea that sure was ahead of its time. I wish Bissell would have evolved the bagged version of this further with follow-up models (your machine looks like it has several improvements incorporated already).

Enjoy!

It's such a shame that they stop making upright models from the 90's which may not be as great as the Kirby's but were also made in USA (or in Canada if there were some) and still of better quality than the current plasticrap models at Walmart.
