I used my Kirby 515 today. It's fun to run but not particularly effective. As my mom commented once, "Kirbys make more noise than suction." The pups enjoyed a going-over, albeit a bit reluctantly at first!

That was just a general statement that my mom made one day back in the late 1970s when I was using one of my old Kirbys in her living room. She wasn't particularly impressed with it and thought it was too noisy and not really all that powerful -- especially in comparison (on both counts) to her Electrolux Model G -- hence her witty comment.

I like Electrolux tanks-Use a Platinum Guardian along with my Kirbys. For carpets the Kirby is the BEST-for other jobs go to the Lux.You have to adjust the Kirby nozzle height properly and make sure the belt is turning the brush. The Kirby has MORE airflow than the Lux!!!ANY of them!!!Again I like Luxes-but for carpet-the Kirby RULES my place has WW carpet so the Kirby is a MUST.To be near comparable to the Kirby I have to use the Volt powernozzle on the Platinum.Again the Kirby still digs up more dirt.
