Donnie and I want to sincerely thank everyone who came for the vacuum collectors convention. We have the most wonderful time seeing old friends and meeting new ones. I am so proud to share this hobby with so many wonderful people. These pictures were taken over a course of three days and are not in chronological order. As they say, a fabulous time was had by all. My most sincere thanks to our wonderful chef’s, Jody and Charlie, for preparing and serving our Saturday night meal.

The first vacuum convention I was ever at, was held in Alex Taber's garage in Naperville, IL. I think it was in 1994. I put together six conventions while I was President of the VCCC. The club went to Electrolux, Kirby, and Filter Queen during my time with the VCCC. Ten years ago (a decade - time flies) I started my own conventions. I'm so glad for all the feedback from people who've joined us. The Museum is a fun filled place, but it's really all the diverse collectors who really make it special.

Kirby and Lux score - Lux for Dalton - Kirby for me.
Karma is sometimes a great thing. I picked up this 1995 Kirby G4 that had been very lightly used by what I will assume was an old lady, only one small scratch which will buff out. I also picked up this Silverado Elux. I got them at the Community Partnership Thrift Store. Old vacuums always come to the middle of the country. I've heard a thousand times from all my friends in coastal cities about how there are no vintage cleaners at their thrift stores.
I got these for $10 each. I'm going to buff out and keep the Kirbeast. The Electrolux Silverado (along with the grey tote they put it, and the tools, in will go to my new friend Dalton Frost of Springfield, MO Like so many folks who come to the Vacuum Museum during the year, Dalton had NO idea that Vacuumland existed. He also had no idea there were vacuum groups until I invited him to this past convention. I filled him in on all the history of the two groups. For the folks in the Vacuum Collectors Group, we always make sure we remember what each person likes and we try to 'pay it forward'. That's just the kind of people we are.
