Shark has lost a 16.3 million dollar law suit with Dyson, I have also heard but cannot confirm that they are filing for bankrupsy, will be interesting to see how this plays out. Mike |

That would be disappointing, Shark makes surprisingly effective vacuums, I own a Powered Lift Away and the amount of dirt it picks up surprises me every time I use it. They're all plasticy junk but they do perform very decently and filter acceptably well. I wouldn't and don't hesitate to recommend them to people looking for a vacuum on a budget, they sure as hell beat any Bissell.

It's not necessarily the vacuums are bad, it's the company's practices and how they sell them that is aggravating. The "never loses suction" claims, and the "x cleans better than x" and the immense retail markups and so on.
I have a Shark Navigator NV60 SwivelPro, and I love it. For the short time that it worked anyway. I need to fix the slider lever on the lower part of the vacuum body that tells the vacuum when it is upright or not to shut the brushroll off. |

If you buy from the infomercial, you have a “lifetime guarantee“ where shark pays shipping both ways. Cleaning ladies will buy one machine and have it replaced by shark every few months. That tremendous cost of warranty work is what is really killing the company. Same thing happened to Fantom and Regina

The real issue with these machines is they are not made well, the quality is just not there. Even if it cleans well, if it doesn't last and you are always dealing with repairs, how well it cleans is meaningless. Mike |

The thing that I don't like about Shark and it's one thing that I like about Dyson better is Shark doesn't sell replacement parts to ANYONE but to fix it themselves. You can still get simple parts like the filters, hose, accersories, etc. But not major parts like the brushroll, motor, circuit boards, etc. But unlike Dyson, I feel that most Sharks clean better on carpets.

Alls I know is my Shark gets rough treatment and still does a super job on both carpet and with attachments. It's a pleasure to use. |
