Over the past week or so, I've been eyeing this Hoover FloorMate hard floor cleaner at my work, Goodwill. It costs $7.99, and I've always been curious about them. I know these can vacuum, wash and dry hard floors; this one is colored periwinkle with dark blue accents, has a folding handle, and has green SpinScrub brushes on the bottom. However, the machine is a bit dirty, and thus needs a good cleaning before use.
So I'm wondering, is a FloorMate safe to use on laminate floors? I usually use a Eureka AirSpeed Unlimited Rewind to vacuum the floors, then I use a spray-on floor cleaner and a Bona mop afterwards to mop the floors. Is the FloorMate a good deal at $7.99?

I've got laminate in my kitchen. I use my floormate with diluted ammonia, to remove the greasiness you get in a kitchen, I really like the job it does. Since it's putting down clean water and picking up the dirty water i feel like it's cleaning better than any mop. It is a bit inconvenient but I think it's worthwhile.

I think the FloorMate would work well for my laminate floors. If I get approval from a family member, I might buy it, provided my store still has it.
At my Goodwill, any vacuums we get are tested first before being priced and placed on the sales floor. Vacuums must be in good shape and cannot be stinky; otherwise they are sent to a Goodwill Outlet. I downloaded the manual for this FloorMate, and I have a couple questions: 1. Hoover recommends using their Hard Floor Detergent with this machine. Which one is best for laminate? 2. They say to fill the clean water tank with "warm water." Exactly how warm should the water be? |
