I was watching "Leave it to Beaver" today and saw June Cleaver using a vacuum cleaner. All I saw at first was a striped cloth hose and dusting brush as she was vacuuming the window seat. Then the camera pulled out and I briefly saw a Compact vacuum cleaner. It was just a glimpse, too fleeting to identify which model it was. It looked like one of the earlier, more rounded-off ones. However, the episode was copyrighted 1958.

The last time I saw a vacuum cleaner on that show was her using a Hoover Convertible.

Other times when June is vacuuming she is using a GE swivel top canister. That machine has been shown in several episodes-including one where Beaver is using the GE to vacuum his and Wallys room.Another one is Eddie comes in and June was using the swivel top on the stairs. You could see debris hanging off the carpet tool!Another time involving the Eddie is when she is dusting a top door jamb and Eddie makes her climb down off a stool and she has to turn the vacuum off to talk to him.

Who really cleans that

I do Phillip Muller, I do. \

After three eye surgeries I was able to see clearly for the first time in my life. I just about killed myself cleaning things that I never knew was dirty.

I discovered the "frosted" glass shelves in the bathroom, weren't frosted.
The inside shower curtain!!! ekk-gods.
The celling fans had pets growing off them. (and I did clean those on a regular basis).
Windows? Well what are drapes for anyway.
But cleaning the woodwork, above doors, crown molding, banisters, mop boards. Just about worked myself to death I tell y a.

I also remember being awoken in the middle of the night with a light coming from the kitchen. I though I had left a light on, so I trapes up the stairs and down the hall. The light was the clean dishes light on the dishwasher. I had owned that dishwasher for three years and never had that happen before.

Ok ok,
occasionally I clean that stuff too.

My house has cob webs like you wouldn't believe. I can walk into a room that looks like it wasn't touched in a month. Deep clean it and 3 days later looks like it wasn't touched. When we had the Ragdoll LONG haired cat it was worse as the cat hair would collect in the cobwebs lol. He crossed the rainbow bridge last month and we started shaving the Pugs and what a difference!!!

"I Dream of Jeannie" Dial-A-Matic

It could very well be that it WAS the same cleaner as used on "Bewitched." Although I'm pretty sure its last appearance was when the Blue Djinn pulled it up out of the lake and threw it. Whatever the case may be, Hoover didn't want their name showing as it had an aluminum strip going across the Hoover letters. That was a model 1100. I'm pretty sure soon thereafter it was replaced by an 1118. I also recall seeing a coffee can Hoover on an episode of "I Dream of Jeannie."

On a side note. I wonder if the powerdrive Hoover Dial-A-Matic U6039-030 used in "Family Matters" was the same one seen in "Roseanne?" That one too had the Hoover name deleted.

Most likely, the production company covered the name because the Hoover company declined to pay a fee for "product placement."

HOOVER'S "debutante" of that machine. with the name missing.
I, too, clean all that stuff. I flip and turn mattresses, as well. With a 12 room house with 10 ft ceilings, the "attachments" are used a lot.
Who sees it? I do. Possibly my late mother, as well.

I agree John!

I vacuum the mattress everytime I change the sheets, and yes, I dust the door jambs and the crown mouldings!

June Cleaver really was supposed to be the model housewife. She always kept those two houses the Cleavers lived in, in proper order, had a fine supper on the table for Beaver, Wally, and Ward...and did it all in Heels and Pearls!
