Hi everybody, so about 2 Fridays ago I was using my Kenmore whispertone I got a few weeks ago along with the DAM power drive at the army and when I about to vacuum again, the on off switch was barely making the vacuum turn on and I started smelling a little weird smell coming from the switch and I believe the power switch got shortened, but the vacuum should still work like normal, suction strong as heck but the power switch is shortened so what do y’all think I should do? Try to fix it by myself or take it in to a professional vacuum repair person? Thanks.

That's a standard snap-in rocker switch. Take it out, measure it, and buy a new one from digikey or ebay. Likely the switch contacts are burned and welding to each other.
