Does anyone go to garage sales or flea markets? I like to go to them but here in Florida I think the good season is just about over. I noticed the flea market doesn't have anyone set up outside now and just the inside vendors are there. And I look at the online newspaper listings for the garage sales and there were only like 3. I guess since it's Florida when the snowbirds leave is when the best time for these sales is over, plus it gets hot and rainy in the summer.

I don't go to either very often. My neighbor across the street had a yard sale a few weeks ago and I picked up a lid and crockery insert for my crock pot for $1.

Yard sales around my way are nothing but kids stuff, busted toys, baby stuff and boring piles of clothes on tarps. No longer waste time on yard sales. I feel the sellers are putting their good stuff on EBay and Craigslist.

I like to go to them, when I can.

There are a few places around me that will have a "Giant Flea Market". There, one can find vacuums, (I have), etc.
Some are just ways of getting rid of junk, though.
Estate sales can be fun, too.

We still have a couple of flea markets here but none that are really big. I do like to go to the estate sales and sometimes you can find some nice stuff at them. I usually don't find old vacuums at them though unless it's a Kirby.

I used to go to garage sales with my mom when I was little. Man, I tell you, the amazing stuff I bought. Literally 90% of my antique collection was from garage sales. I'm not sure what changed, but garage sales became crap. Yeah, it's just clothes and toys and the occasional crappy toaster or particle board furniture. Maybe the economy is crap now and people are hoarding valuable vintage stuff, maybe they're selling on ebay, maybe back then most people didn't consider vintage stuff important.

Or maybe all the stuff forgotten in attics and basements has already been cleaned out and sold, and there's nothing left.

Some neighborhood homeowners' associations actually prohibit yard/garage sales. That sort of crap is why I put 'no HOAs' on my list of criteria for the realtor when I was looking for a house a few years ago.

People don't list sales in newspapers anymore. It's all on facebook and online posts. Just drive around town looking for signs, or look for facebook yard sale groups in your area.

Plenty of yard sales, just have to hunt them out and drive around. I went to the hardware store today and seen 5 yard sale on the way there, and I seen vacuums jutting out of the yard too.

I spotted one yard sale sing on the way to work.Vacuum handles sticking up out of the yard sale stuff are getting harder to find.If you do find one-its some crappy, dirty, bagless plasticrap machine.

I still see quite a few yard sales advertised in the paper, it's just that in Florida they tend to be slower in the summer. Probably because of the heat and rain, plus the snowbirds have gone back north, so fewer customers.

Yeah, with yard sales I rarely see good old vacuums, it's mostly newer plastic bagless uprights as you mention.

Did find some good garden books at a yard sale near me-another customer bought a riding mower from the sale.

I just went to a yard sale at a lower class apartment complex but I got there too late in the day and a lot of people were packing up. I seen 3 vacuums at different sales but one person was drunk or something and was angrily packing up their stuff in the back of a truck and talking very loud. They tossed both the vacs they were selling in the back and some other stuff and left. Another people were sitting in their lawn still with a small card table of stuff, and some very weird modern canister vac, not sure what it was but it looked European. Never bothered to stop.
