Hello everybody,

I found myself the “sucker” of late at night informercials! Lol So I’ve been debating on buying the Oreck Pod or the Dyson V10 and seeing the informercial yet again late last week, I went in an entirely different direction, spending less and getting a vacuum that I really am impressed with so far!

I’ve said it before, so I will kindly remind everyone that I am an eclectic vacuum collector that LOVES all brands and makes of vacuums and I buy what I like that day without any specific reason beyond a personal decision. Soooo.. I understand a lot of collectors on here dislike (to put it politely LOL) the Shark vacuums but here is my latest addition to my collection... so no need for comments like it belongs in the trash or it’s a waste of money. I just like it and I love ALL vacuum brands equally.

The Shark IonFlex DuoClean Cordless Ultra-Light Vacuum! I got an email for 20% off so I figured what the heck, it’s something I’ve wanted for a long time and it’s cheaper than the Oreck Pod or Dyson V10. Both of which I still want to buy eventually. Also, by buying it directly from Shark, I saved 20% and got a boat load of attachment tools and two batteries with it.

Everything I got with my package deal: Priority Shipping, Lifetime Warranty (Two Years on Batteries), The Shark IonFlex DuoClean Cordless Vacuum, Two Ion Power Batteries, The Dual Battery Charging Cradle with Cord, The additional Charging Cord to charge one battery at a time, in or out of the vacuum, The Mini Deep Cleaning Motorized Pet Tool, The Flexible Hose, Accessory Bag, Duster Crevice Tool, Pet Multi Tool, Under Appliance Wand, Anti-Allergen Dusting Brush, The 18” Flexi Crevice Tool and a Spare Pre-Motor Filter Kit (Three filters total).

So first impressions after using it for a week.. I really like it! I don’t have testing equipment as again, I just buy what I like for no specific reasons. But I put the Shark and my brand new (replacement from Dyson I just received) Dyson V8 to the side by side test and here is what I found and my personal thoughts. Again, not scientific, just my opinion.

The Pro’s of the Shark IonFlex:
1) The removable battery and having Two batteries
2) The DuoClean brushrolls, I don’t have to stop and take one brushroll off and switch to the fluffy
3) Multiflex.. I really do love the pivoting bend to get under the couch and tables without bending
4) It Stands Up on it’s own when you fold it over, which I found very easy and better than leaning the Dyson against something or laying it flat on the floor.
5) The LED headlights.. My biggest pet peeve with Dyson (Who I LOVE)
6) The runtime, even on Max is much longer.
7) The fact that you turn it on and Don’t have to hold the trigger on constantly! Another thing I’ve written to Dyson, begging for them to change.
8) More Suction on extended run than the Dyson. It really sucks your hand harder and you can tell when side by side against your hand.
9) The Under Appliance Wand, Love it and even Dyson’s “Reach Under Tool” can’t do what this does.
10) Most important, Longer Warranty! Both Shark and Dyson cover their Battery for Two years, BUT Shark offers Five years standard on all other parts with the option to buy ($49 bucks) Lifetime Warranty. Still only Two years for the battery, but free shipping to and from Shark and coverage on parts and labor for life.

The Con’s of the Shark IonFlex:
1) The sound of the motor, it has a different pitch and even though it’s not louder than the Dyson V8, it has a slightly higher pitch. Definitely NOT a deal breaker, just a slight con.
2) The main “Carpet” Brushroll is Not removable, which makes it a bit harder to clean out long hair and thread than the easy slide out Dyson Brushroll.
3) The Fluffy Brushroll out front is getting grooves worn in it already from the “Comb” that it runs through to remove crap from it.. and it’s just a visual, cosmetic thing.. doesn’t effect perfomance. (Pic 7)
4) Shark’s customer service! They are NO where as easy to work with or get help from as Dyson. But again, I get extraordinary service from Dyson as a VIP, so any other is going to be lacking some.

SO, just my opinions and observations this past week using this Shark. So far I really enjoy using it and I have not used my Dyson all week. Prior to this Shark, I used my V8 every single day. I am going to do my own “Test” and see how much dirt the Dyson V8 can get out of my livingroom area rug this weekend, just to see as for a week I’ve only used the Shark on it. I will post pics and let you guys know.

But for now, I highly recommend this Shark and find it’s doing an excellent job cleaning my home and does a fantastic job getting my Chihuahua Corgi Mix Dog Kermit’s hairs cleaned up! See last three pics Now, to answer what a lot of you might ask, Can this Shark IonFlex Cordless vacuum replace a corded vacuum or be your homes only vacuum..... Yes and No

I truly think if you only have all or mostly Hardwood Floors and a few area rugs or small areas of low to medium pile carpet, YES this Shark could replace a corded full sized vacuum. It cleans hardwood, tile, and linoleum extremely well and above floor cleaning is very effective too. BUT... if your home is more than say 25% carpeted floors, then NO you will need a corded full sized upright. Again, all is just my opinion.. no shade or disrespect to anyone. I just really like this vacuum and I rate it equal to my Dyson V8, which I truly think is THE Best cordless vacuum I’ve owned. (I’ve owned them all but the Oreck Pod and Dyson V10)

Thanks! Patrick

Nice!

I always thought the duo was better as stick/quick clean up vac. The front roll looks like it would make it lose airflow for deep cleaning if you had the upright.

I really like how it has interchangeable batteries which is something all manufacture should use
