Dear all...I needed some advice on a beauty; a near mint Universal Canister Vacuum. Has anyone ever worked on these machines? I know it needs a new switch, but the wiring is old...would a new switch be okay in this unit? Thank you in advance for your help (with pictures to follow!)

Universal used (for the most part) fit-all switches on their Jet 99, as well as the tank and round canister models. The same switch used on Sanitaire uprights today.

Awesome, thank you for your help! I know this sounds silly, but is it okay to use a new switch and it's new wires with old wires? I don't have to rewire the inside or anything?!?!? lol (It's all intact, I just wanted to be sure)

Yes, it's OK. The new switch will have two lead wires. The motor will also have two. As does the cord.

Take one lead each and connect like this:
one cord to one switch
one switch to one motor
one motor to one cord

In the end you'll have three connections, with two lead wires each.

Thank you so much!
