Dave's very first Celebrity...II...

aeoliandave's profile picture
I think since the power nozzle says Celebrity II.

Dashed home at noon to make some lunch sandwiches 'cause I ran out of time and even forgot to put the lucky coins & penknife in the watch pocket. At least I got the underwear on right side out. :-)

Anywhichway, the twingle compelled me to drop by The ReStore on the way back.

Ohhhh, its BLUE!

So, it came with all these tools, some of which don't belong I suspect. Can't figure out how to arrange them on the holder for a pleasing display. :-(

Jumble of Tools. That's a lot of brushes for one Celebrity! ?

There's no foil serial number plate on it nor an indication there was one. Just stamped in the metal bottom as made in Burlington Canada, Model Number S3069 and RD 1974. Theres a hole for the exhaust but it's blanked over - no hose port.

Powermatic nozzle is Model S8003.

The floor tool with the chrome elbow has a retracting brush strip and a peg on the elbow to engage the Hoover clips. Looks like a Fairfax nozzle to me.

Anyone got a picture of this model? What year it would be?

Pete, I lost that Consumer's Dist page you posted a while back, in the Great Hard Drive Meltdown...is it pictured there? in green?

Well, it's clean with nary a scratch or scuff other than baeboard streaks on the PN and they're gone and runs great.

The hose has some vinyl splits at the wand end that has been taped very nicely with white electrical tape. Must get me some of that in white. :-)

Dave, I would say that you got a great deal there. Machine appears to be in great shape. Just wonder what machine that rug nozzle on the right is for? Pretty sure it is not a Hoover.

Yup Terry, I was in the right place at the right time again. I like how Hoover kept the same basic 'easy on the furniture' rubber bodied tools from machine to machine thru the model changes. But 3 brushes of different widths can't be original to that tool saddle, can they?

As I said, the odd floor has the same top design as the Fairfax floor tool in aluminum and the red plastic nozzles and brushes. The chrome elbow fits the Hoover wands perfectly while the Fairfax does not have the latch peg. I'm sure we'll get the definitive answer within a few posts.

I love your new Celebrity II, Celebrity is my favorite Hoover, and I have four, one with a power head. I'll have to post it soon.

Got a brief and helpful email this morning.

"This rug tool is a generic replacement designed to fit Hoover wands. They are available still from many different vac shop suppliers, but I'm not sure who the manufacturer is, but variations of that tool have been used on many different cleaners."

I know I've seen this tool's top pattern with several vacuums in other colors so generic explains it.

Not a scratch on the bottom...this Celebrity must be newer than I thought? Or not used much in a fully carpeted home...

Two other thoughtful Hoover features on the Power Nozzle - the wand socket is spring loaded to return to upright and the lever to the right extends or retracts a brush strip for smooth or carpeted floors. So simple.

Dave

My friend's mother had one...

It was orange. I remember taking it apart to fix it.

Celebrity Q.S.

Here is a Quadraflex Powermatic equipped cream and teal Hoover I picked up at St. Vincent de Porres in Jensen Beach about a month or so ago, no tools but what's in the picture, and an ultra long hose. The vacuum is pretty presentable, just a light film of dust, but the powerhead graphics are scarred just enough to be noticeable. It's from coVac in Glen Cove, NY. The sticker is near the wand connection on the head. It works like a charm, and has a beautiful green bristled clean bottom.

Just checkrd my 73/74 Consumers Dist catalogue and there wasn't a Celebrity, just the convertibles, connie, slimline and portable.

This might help date it.
Nice find by the way.

Wow, there it is, second from Top Of The Line 1978.

Hoover "Celebrity II" Estate in Sea Blue over Colonial Blue, with 'Tool Garden', cordwinder, 13 quart dust bag capacity. So I have twice the tools and just need the upholstery brush to completely outfit it. That'll be easy. Cool. Feeling quite lucky to have had this come to me in such great condition.

Model Number S3069 must be the Canadian version of the S3059 pictured.

All the features of the TOL "Elite" except the control panel up front, the two big rear outside Deep Shag wheels and a headlight on the Power Nozzle.

I do like a blue in a vacuum cleaner...and green. :-)

The power head is also found on Celebrity Guardsman & Celebrity IV models.QS models used a different power head. Also found out 1986 is the last year for the Hoover Celebrity. The Blue Celebrity II model is made from 1975-78.
