Hi, I'm new here and have a couple of questions about some new vacs that are being added to/possibly being added to my collection.

I'll start with the Riccar 8850. Already purchased it and it's on it's way. Can't wait to try it out. What do ye experts think of these machines? Anything I should know?

Secondly, I'm really REALLY wanting a Hyla NST vacuum system. While I'm a "Rainbow Freak" I think the Hyla would be a great "toy" as well. Anyone here have one/know someone who has one? I do most of my vacuum buying on E-bay and before I shell out $800-$1200 for a Hyla I'd like to get some feedback.

TIA for welcoming me to your club. I've been a long time lurker and hope that I can somehow contribute to the day to day goings on of the club.

-Andrew

Riccar

The best American made vacuum that isn't as much as a Kirby and usually last 13+ years under normal household use. My grandma has a N2000 and still works pretty good for its age. The one thing I wanna tell you about Riccar is NEVER BUY ONE BRAND NEW! You can find about every model on Ebay within a year spand.

That's where I got my 8850. It's remanufactured and is supposed to be in like new conditon with a 1 year warranty. For it for under $200 with shipping so I'm pretty pleased.
Glad to hear they are a quality machine taht cleans well.

Anyone with any expierence on the Hyla? I just made the high bid on an like new NST. Hope I don't live to regret that one.

Riccar-"Never Buy One Brand New"_I have bought the ones in my collection new-and for a reason--If you have problems with the machine Riccar will repair or replace it.When the "Radiance" models first came out-I bougt one new from the local Riccar dealer. The machine worked but not as the dealer or I intended-you had to set its nozzle height to its highest setting-the problem was brought to Riccar and they REPLACED the old machine with a brand new on under warrantee! And the new machine works on my carpet in "auto" mode than manual-and it does a DEEPER cleaning job.In my area there is a Hyla dealer in the west end of NC-he wanted to sell me one and would ship it to me.didn't follow thru-I had heard from the former vacuum chatroom that folks had problems with the Hyla powernozzles.

My goodness!

Two collectors in tiny Letcher County? What are the odds?

Glad to have a nurse practitioner. What a gap in health care you all fill in. We have at least one other nurse in the fold, Marty Rocha in California.

Tolivac is right about buying a new Riccar, they have fantastic customer service. Last year I bought a Riccar 1700 canister and the power head self-destructed in month one. I received a new power head through the dealer quickly and with no questions. Now if it were a Miele, you would wait months for a replacement part. Both excellent machines, mind you, yet Riccar has the market cornered service.

Welcome to the forum!

John

rainbowfreak

is the riccar from a person in canada? if so if believe i saw that riccar
also about what i said "dont buy riccars new"i never had a bad riccar. my experience has always been 100%. the riccars i have owned, nothing went wrong. then again the machines were made quite awhile ago and riccars are made differently now in terms of parts and quality. im not sayin they;re bad vacuums(my name proves it!) im just sayin things are made cheaper now.
