Hello, I was wondering how old This vacuum was (it was my grandma’s) but it has no indicators on it, no serial number, no model number, nothing. Does anyone have any information on it? Thanks!

I'm not an expert on these, but this was called a Swivel Top because of how the hose swiveled 360 degrees.

GE canister vacuum

I have a vacuum similar to this on eBay now. It may have had a rolling base originally. Mine has a model number, but it's hard to see. I had to remove the rolling base (clips) and the number was on the bottom. It is not a label, but is stamped into the metal before being painted, so it doesn't stand out. Mine says, among other things, "Model V11C3".

Give it a look.

That's a model C-1 from late 1952/early 1953. The C-2 was a green color with the flip/over rug and floor tool. The C-3 from 1954 was pink.

Namestamp & Serial #

The nameplate & serial number may be debossed in the metal like this one listed on eBay.

Here's a 1953 ad listed on eBay featuring G.E.'s Model C-1 (first to be labeled "Swivel-Top"). It had a caddy and eight attachments. (Other G.E. canister ads from the early 1950s I found on eBay were for the Model AVC-815 in 1952 with ten attachments and Model C-2 in 1954 with 7 attachments--including the new 2-in-1 floor and rug tool).
