I have Easter Monday off, so I'm going to put this Model G through the Electrolux Spa. Just wondering if anyone here has ever replace the felt insulation in a G. If so, did you buy it at a fabric store? I plan to remove it if it's still there, because I know it has years of accumulated dirt.

I usually glue in some cut to size filter media. One layer, not 3. That way it retains the smooth sound and catches carbon dist without any extra head being trapped in.

After opening it up, I see no evidence of the insulation every being there...no glue residue, scraping marks, anything. Just a smooth clean surface. I wonder if Electrolux stopped adding it with the bronze G.

He's all back together after a thorough cleaning inside and out. I even installed a new sealed bearing on the fan end, even though it didn't need it. The motor still runs like a top and smells "April Fresh"!
