I got a Sanitronic Vlll today with a set of attachments. Various parts appear to have been replaced over time. Replaced bag, mismatched wheels and trim.. But it looks clean and well cared for (for a vacuum). It has a white Kirby-branded cord. Is this the same mythical white cord found on the 562?

a fabled 562 cordset. I had a 562, which was completely original...I bought it specifically for the cord still being with it. Congrats.

Pam,

Yes, and what a great find this Kirby is! The model is actually called "Sanitronic VII," and it was produced from 1963 to 1965.

That off-white cord with the sirocco male and female plug ends is very rare! I have actually seen one Dual Sanitronic 50 with the white cord, too.

Notable differences of the VII from the 562 include:
* New-style O-ring on fan case.
* Hose now has a permanently-attached universal suction/blower coupling.

Thanks, you are right. It is the Vll. I got carried away with my roman numerals!

It will be interesting to see how it compares to my beloved D50 when in use.

Why is the white cord so rare compared to other colors?

That's is so awesome. I would say the reason its rare is because it was produced for one model for only one year. The 562 1962 but now that I see people have had then on VII and D-50 makes me scratch my head a little

Pam,

The Sanitronic VII was notable for being the last Kirby with a single-speed motor.

Your knowledge confuses people. I know you know 562 s7 d50 all sold during overlaps thus cord on 3 models.
The cord was produced 1 year only white kirby cord in 100 plus year existence.
The cord is suppose to be 562. It might have been sold with other models but 562 was oem cord.

Les,

Even if the white cord is in fact the wrong one for the SVII, still, I believe she (Pam) should hold onto that until she finds an actual 562 Sanitronic to go with that cord.

I agree. I just think people got confused. You know alot I learn most things on here from you. I noticed people were puzzled by multiple model reference. Just trying to clarify for those people.
The cord is awesome. I have only seen pics on here.
