Today was the day where I decided to finally purchase the MD unit! I negotiated with the seller and eventually got him down to a price of $550. Really isn’t too bad but, it was a little bit more than I was hoping it would be. I brought the unit home and immediately started to replace my old Budd (don’t worry I have plans for it) with the new MD! From first glance and as you can see from pictures below, it is much shorter than the Budd and MUCH MUCH lighter than it! It uses a mounting bracket where essentially just sits on it. It was very easy to install just make sure that it is perfectly level. I have a little bit of trouble running the old tubing to the new. If I had parts readily available it would’ve been much easier so I had to make due with the little fitting I have left. (I have a whole shipment of pipe and inlet kits coming tomorrow) I had to do simple electrical work just to extend the wires down to the bottom of the unit, no big deal! One thing that caused me a bit of trouble is that on this unit, the exhaust is at the bottom where as the intake is at the top whereas on my old Budd it was opposite. MD suggest that venting is it mandatory but I will probably end up venting it in the future. One other thing to note is that the M 85 does not have a utility and so, in the picture you will see a inlet connected to the main line coming into it. One other thing to know is that the M 85 does not have a utility in so, in the picture you will see a inlet connected to the main line coming into it After I got the insulation done, I turn the unit on just to test it out! I was completely shocked and amazed at how quite it is! As some of you may know my old Budd sounded like a Boeing 747 starting!!! Then, I placed my hand over the intake and again I was absolutely stunned and flabbergasted about how much suction un then, I placed my hand over the intake and again I was absolutely stunned and flabbergasted about how much suction this unit has!!!!!! At first, I was quite hesitant of having a bag system. I emptied out my old unit about every three weeks so it concerned me, that I must keep replacing bags which would add up to large amounts of money! But after seeing how large these bags, it is make me feel a little bit better about it . After the whole system why is complete I went upstairs and lifted the inlet valve (my Budd inlets start the unit when they are opened, not when the hose is inserted) and The noise it made stunned me!!! The amount of suction coming through the smaller diameter hole was again incredible!!!! I am extremely pleased with the power of this little unit!
Although I have been completely vacuumed with this yet, I can definitely sense that this will work incredibly. If you are in the Area for a new central Area for new central vacuum, I really strongly suggest you look at the MD unit, it may cost more but from the looks of it, it will be much worth it!!! (I have attached some pictures of the MD next to the Budd so you get an idea of it! Also, there are some of the installation and of the bag assembly. If you would like to see some more feel free to ask!! -Ian |

Actually the M85 does have a utility valve on the front, unless they have changed it since I got mine, glad you like your new unit, it should work well for you. Mike |
