This is a vacuum cleaner I picked up on eBay on October 26, 2017 for $31.20. I love obscure, weird vacuum cleaners and this one is no different. I predict it will be a future rarity. It is very beautiful with an intense glossy Ferrari red color (you have to see it in person to believe it) but it is very clunky to operate and my god is it ever heavy (I do believe it is close to 30 lbs)! What a bear!

I have not plugged it in yet, because I need to get a new handle for it (the handle will pop right off since it's only taped on), but I have read the Amazon reviews and this thing is known to be very loud, and there has been several reports that the motor can catch fire. At 1200 watts and 10 amps, its no wonder why! Due to it's self-destruct mechanism I don't think these vacs will be around any longer than they have been so I will only use it seldomly.

The quality of the dust bin leaves much to be desired. It's really unusual in form and in function with removing it, and it feels more like a plastic measuring cup for your kitchen, lol The handle does not lock into place 95% of the time either, as the handle has a tab on it that just lazily rests into a narrow groove cut into the side of the housing, you have to manually place the tab into that groove much of the time. It's very easy for it to topple backwards when trying to grab the dust cup.

The hose on this vacuum is enormous as well (3 feet), and combine that with a 30 foot power cord...I have no idea what they were intending you do with this vacuum but if you need to vacuum a football field, you're all set to go!

The vacuum has some scuffs and scrapes from being demo-derbied into furniture and in addition to duct tape residue on the handle, but those should come out with no trouble and a bit of polish. It looks pretty good for a 10 year old vacuum. The seller was nice enough to put a new belt on it as an extra incentive to get people to buy it as well (it worked for me?) lol

The seller skimped on packing a bit, it honestly looks like a garbage tip! But it got here safe and sound and luckily didn't break out of the box considering it weighs more than a Kirby!

So all in all, I got a $140 vacuum for $30, and I guarantee you won't see another one like this for a good while. I do not even think Sunpentown is in business making vacuums anymore actually. This was their first and only foray and they flopped.

@huskyvacs

Congratulations on such a rare find and a cool looking vacuum. I heard of SPT Sunpentown a few years back when I saw they were the only company that made portable dishwashers in Stainless Steel trim/finish (outside color of the door, trimmed in black)

Anyhow, I love my Amazon so I was excited to find this V-8506 Sunpentown Bagless Vacuum, brand new for sale. I attached the link and if anyone wants one, apparently they have two left in stock. I don’t think $136 bucks and free shipping is too bad for such a nice looking vacuum.

Thanks for sharing and I sure hope yours does NOT catch fire.. yikes. (See Amazon reviews) Oh and you are correct from what I could find online too, it looks as though in 2013 SPT stopped manufacturing vacuum cleaners and only currently sell dishwashers, air conditioners, air cleaners, etc.

Here is the direct link to SPT’s website for replacement parts available for this vacuum, in case you need anything. Hope this helps.

I would not pay a dime for that! A Chinese Plastic Fantastic, filter-in-cup bagless! EEK! Glad you enjoy it though. Reminds me somewhat of the old bagless Bissell Lift-Off uprights.

I go both ways! As long as it gets the carpet clean, right? :)

These were also sold as Sunbeam, Cirrus, etc. They're not bad vacuums really, I actually like them to be quite honest. Just as long as you clean the filter often.
