I suppose these Runabouts come from the same lineup as the Elites and Prefereds? Same configuration...

I'm working on the turquoise blue one on the right. Others I've finished up already from the famous Thorndale and Woodstock free curbside days can be seen in this before shot garage lineup.

Serial number 059600334345 means it was made in May of 1996, right?

Model U4267. 7 amps. Purty color.

The fan has thrown a blade still attached to a triangular section of the fan disc...right up the bag chute blocking all suction. I'll head over to the vacuum Shop, see if I can get a replacement fan cheap. Otherwise the vacuum is in great shape.

Well if it wasn't for that little pink swish and the name it would be totally bereft of je ne sais pas LOL

I know i'm ignorant of US models but how many variants did they manage to squeeze out of the basic Elite design?

That is the exact same model as the Runabout my mother bought in April 1994 for our new house. I loved that color. The Runabout was a Hoover Elite in a different color than the other Elites that was sold only at K-Mart. Oddly enough I remember when we got it they also had Elites on display too. The Runabout line cost a little bit less than the Elites.

That's one of the runabouts I am looking for. I don't remember a headlight though, but after all it has been a long time since I seen one.

Ian,

They squeezed out way to many variants of the Elites to even be counted. They all pretty much worked the same simple way and looked the same under the hood. Hoover managed to put both hard and soft outer bags on the machines but they all use style "A" bags. You can also sorta mix'n match the parts to build "franken-elites." LOL. My favorite in the Elite series was the Hoover Elite 200/TurboLite.

Hoover also made a PowerDrive U6311-930 upright from 1994-1998. It was dripping with features.
The PD had a Elite motor/hard bag case with a Concept/PowerMax agitator/agitator housing/bottom plate.
