Gabriel,
The pic that has been supplied, is essentially the vacuum that became the Premier Upright vacuum cleaner line in the early 1970's. G.E. Introduced this new upright cleaner, with various models available, around 1962, some sources say 1963, (fairly sure); until they left vacuums 10 years later. (Sidebar)- this has already been discussed previously, but will abridge for those who may NOT know. G.E. decided to cut under-performing divisions in the late 1960's and early 1970's, and the floor care arm, wasn't making good money or return on investment made. After offering it for sale, the production facilities were continued (somehow) under a new management as PEC, as is stamped on the box of the pic you supplied. P.E.C. was short for Premier Electric Company. They continued G.E's former vacuum line unchanged, except for colors, and reductions in quality on certain models; until either 1981-or 82. Earlier G.E's used a similar kit with hardier METAL wands, and GE fit tools. The hose was also a saran type woven hose with both ends having metal fittings. Premier cheapened all of their machines and clearly their tools by the mid to late 1970's, to save money. This kit still used the METAL machine end connector (that plugged into the rear base of the machine(s) pictured), but clearly a cheaper blow-molded hose( also used on their canisters), and a very cheap shop-vac-style attachment end to accept all standard 1 1/4 inch attachments, was supplied. The tools look to one as all fit-all-available-thru-any-vac-store variety. Hope this helps. Chad P.S. One has included a picture of two Premiers owned by, featured at the 2008 VCCC convention, which was hosted in Canton Ohio that year. The middle GREEN and cream Premier was the series your tool set was built for. The BLACK and chrome hood Commercial Premier next to it was built alongside the regular uprights virtually unchanged until the end as well. At some point the hood went from LEXAN plated chrome look finish, to just black LEXAN plastic. I've amassed that the colors used by Premier for their vacuum lines were a Gold-tone color, and cream ; 1973-1975. Forest Green and cream 1975-1977 and finally a dark Royal Blue and White 1978-1982. Unless someone has evidence to the contrary... |
