@vacfan1982

Hey Mark!

Have you been drinking JohnnyL8’s Koolaid? Lol (Joking)

Good review, although long and he still is slightly irritating. Lol but then I’m sure a lot of the guys on here find me irritating. I sometimes feel invisible on this site, but I really do enjoy sharing with everyone.

Anyhow, if you keep this up Mark.. I’ll be forking out $600 bucks for a new Dyson V10 myself! You could easily work for Dyson as your Not pushy but knowledgeable, very friendly and personable.. heck you’ve almost convinced ME to buy one after I swore my V8 is still sufficient.

Thanks for sharing Mark! I love hearing your input and can’t wait to hear more about your new V8... you still loving it? Also, if you get the V10 too, any idea which model you might get and why? I want advice as I tend to have the “only the highest model will do” attitude and keep telling myself I “need” all the bells and whistles! 🤔 Anybody have thoughts on this regarding the V10? It would be nice to save $100 or even $200 bucks! Thanks guys

It's evident that Dyson put a lot of thought into this new machine, especially with the easier to access filters and the wall bumper. He does mention in the video that the vacuum sits heaver in the docking station so I wonder how that plug "post" charging port will hold up over time. Were the previous models docked in a similar manner? Any issues?

V10 sure is very impressive vacuum. JohnnyL8 is just so arrogant and cheeky. He constantly repeat the same mantra "industry standard testing" and makes fun of other tests. Very hard to watch without being irritated.
He also shows other peoples content in his videos, but when one user used his content he got very angry and threatened with all kind of things.

I sure would like to own V10. And put it against the Kirby on my high pile rug :D

If I ever get a V10, I will be putting it up against a £50 Chinese made bagless Hoover.

No bitching from me, I am stating what I plan to do. A cheap bagless upright will outperform a cordless Dyson, on carpets at least.

You can do quite a bit in 5 mins as Steve has shown in his video.

You only need to use the max setting occasionally. You could just do your living room and another time your bedroom.

I know some vacuum enthusiasts hate it when Dyson come out with an excellent product but they are not representative of the wider public who will love the V10 😘

Perhaps some enthusiasts with experience of owning 100s of different cleaners can see through the marketing. The average user just wants something that's light and easy to use and will give them the appearance of a clean home, so I'm sure they will be thrilled with the Dyson V10. I still have a V7 and V8 that have been sitting in their boxes for months, so I am in no rush to get a V10 myself.

Well I must go as I have a lovely new Sebo Felix to unbox. £180 well spent I think.

"I know some vacuum enthusiasts hate it when Dyson come out with an excellent product but they are not representative of the wider public who will love the V10 😘 "

That in itself is a high-handed attitude. Remember - one size doesn't fit all.
What is suitable for you, and the woman next door, might not be suitable for other folk further down the road.

And at those prices, a 5 year guarantee should be automatic. Perhaps the machine will never reach that age unaided?

Look at this:

"There are, however, some circumstances in which a Dyson guarantee doesn't cover the repair or replacement of a machine. These aren't hidden in the small print. Here's what isn't covered:

Normal wear and tear, including parts that might wear out over time (e.g. fuse, belt, brush bar, batteries, filters etc.)."

Oh aye? The batteries are an inherent component of the machine and not user replaceable.

Johnny L8 video

He shows the battery pack as being a Lithium Ion type.

I thought this new machine had a Cobalt-Nickel-Aluminium battery? Or have I missed something?

From Dyson's technology:
"Fade-free power
The seven-cell, nickel-cobalt-aluminium battery has the fade-free power to clean here, there and everywhere around your home."

The more I learn about this machine, the more 'smoke and mirrors' springs to mind.

That video...

And then he goes on about the brushroll being loose-fitting in order to provide 'optimal vibration'.

Seems an odd way of producing vibration, a bit like an electric drill with hammer action. I'd call it 'loose-fitting, designed to fail early'.

But I've gone off Sebo upright cleaners I now prefer to use a Cylinder cleaner with a power nozzle because it's much lighter to use.

I love the E3 Premium and I converted my Mirle C3 to use the Sebo ET1 power nozzle.

I also enjoy using my MD Cental vac.

These are my favourite cleaners. But I also enjoy the convenience of the Dyson V8 and I'll be getting a V10 shortly.

Battery technology is going to change hugely in the coming years. They are already developing Graphene based batteries in the lab . They will have 10 x the capacity of Li-Ion batteries and will charge in seconds.

I was just told this by a certain scientist 😁

When we get this much power from the batteries, I am convinced.
This would be enough for the vacuum cleaners (full size)
And yes it runs on batteries. What a beast!

Yes it will be a huge leap forward in battery technology for many
applications. Plus these batteries will be very light in comparison to Li-Ion batteries, so cordless cleaners will get even lighter.

Plus Dyson will keep improving the power of their motors.

It's not hype guys it's coming in the very near future. 👍

Hi Mark! I was joking in a friendly way.. I’m sorry about the Koolaid comment, I’d never disrespect a fellow vacuumland.org friend, especially not as nice a guy as you Mark. I hope the Lol’s showed my goofy fun attitude, but text is SO easily interpreted with different meanings.. so my apologies if I seemed more Bitchy than humorous. Hugs my friend!

Hey Mike.. excellent canister (cylinder) vacuums! I Love my Miele Upright and my Sebo Felix.. I just haven’t fallen in love with Cylinder vacuums the way Uprights peak my interest. I do have four and I’d Love to own the Sebo Airbelt D or E! I also one day will probably give in and buy a Miele Complete C3 Brilliant Powerline! Anyhow, Mike.. am I seeing correctly in your picture, you have a Sebo ET-1 Powerhead Brushroll on your Miele? Are the power connections universal between the two, or do you have a way around it?

Also, I agree that batteries are kicking butt now! I have a really nice push mower that always amazes me with its power and excellent cutting. I have the same brand Snow Blower too and so between the two devices, I have four batteries. The funny thing is I never require more than one battery per use unless I’ve not mowed and let it get overgrown or the snows super deep. Love the new cordless!

Maybe in 20 years, when they REALLY develop the battery technology so it lasts 60 minutes on Max mode, then I will be convinced. Until then, the Dyson V10 still has too many disadvantages to make me want to use it in my home. Particularly the powerhead....I don't like that V8 style powerhead, & the only way they will convince me is if they develop a powerhead with a traditional brushroll, like Shark has done with their cordless vacuums.

Call me old fashioned, but I will NEVER give up my corded, bagged canister vacuums! My Electrolux, Riccar & Simplicity canisters will easily outclean this Diesoon with ease :P

Mikko - Good taste in canister vacuums! And good idea to pair the Miele with the Sebo powerhead :-)

Rob

Haha not at all Patrick 😊

The Miele uses a 35mm and Sebo I think is 36.5mm for some reason. Mike purchased an adapter.

I also use the ET1 with my Miele C3 and Central vac. It's a very good power nozzle.

It will be a lot sooner than 20 years Rob.

4 years we will be seeing graphene batteries. They have already tested them in the lab.

When this happens corded cleaners will have had their day for the vast majority of people. There will still be a niche market of course.

Glad to hear it Mark! 🤗 I’m relieved as my sarcasm is sometimes bordering on rude if you didn’t know me or my personality. You really are a very polite, kind person Mark.

I love that power brushroll too, correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s the same powered brushroll on the Sebo Felix.. and I Love my Felix! I bought the soft bristle brushroll for my delicate area rugs and it deep cleans so well.

I'm the same. I have a cheeky sense of humour 😁

Yes it's the same power head as the Felix.

The one upright I'd like above all others is the Vorwerk Kobold. That is an impressive cleaner.

There was a guy selling a new one on eBay a few months back. Said he would except £380 for it. Wish I'd bought it now 😟

@Vacfan1982

Hey question Mark,

Did your lab guy tell you if the fast charging graphene batteries will be compatible with the wireless charging method too?

I love the idea of placing my Cordless Upright Vacuum Cleaner in the closet, on top of its cool looking Charging Pad.. and Voila! It’s ready every time you get it out to use it. Or side by side my Canister, Upright and Handheld all charging wirelessly!

It excites me to see how far Batteries have come and the general technology from years ago. I’ll be 50 years old this April and it’s been fun watching technology and in particular Dyson now, leading the way with new things we only dreamt of in the past!

Wow fascinating video, I had no idea that much work went into the process.

So Mike, may I ask why you did this? Do you not like the Miele powered brushrolls that are available or do you just prefer the Sebo? Just curious and also wondering, do you use a Sebo powered brushroll on your Sebo Cylinder Vacuum too?

Thanks for sharing!

My Miele C3 was originally the straight suction model. So it didn't have any capabilities to take even the Miele powerhead. It would have been the same process to make the connectors to the Miele powerhead.
I already had the Sebo Felix so I naturally used the Felix powerhead. I use the same powerhead in my Felix, Miele C3 and Sebo K1. Actually Sebo powerhead fits to all of my canister vacuum cleaners what have with the powerhead wiring.

I just love the Sebo ET1 ph. I have never used the full size Miele ph :)

Watched the "johnny" video-At least he shows the vacuum in actual use.Not too bad-but not clear as to the run times on the power modes.BUT-lets face It this is still a "kitchen crumb" vacuum,Doormat vacuum or broom vacuum. It would do well for those jobs but NOT for cleaning the whole house-It would take longer than its run time for sure with the tiny powernozzles.Be good for places your full size vacuum can't reach. The 500W 100,000 rpm motor is a concern-how long will this last as compared to motors that run slower. And in the link watched a video of this machine taken apart on "whats Inside" this is a good little video you can see inside this Dyson machine without taking your own apart.and for once they took it apart in a way they could put it back together and still work. The machine was provided for the "Whats Inside" video. And they show the vacuum picking up various debris.Don't think this vacuum will replace my simplicity Cordless Freedom uprights.

V10 Rival-notice this has a cord-does the cord connect to a wall outlet or a battery pack?If the cord goes to an outlet-than this is not a cordless vacuum as the Dyson V10 is.
