Today I bought a Hoover constellation off eBay! Model 858 orange. It comes with the original box and instruction manual. I love the way these ones float too. This vacuum will be fun to clean and repair if needed. I am very exited to receive this and start fiddling around with it! What year was this one made?

I'd say a little before 1974 because that thread says 1974 was when the top changed to Poppy Red. Since the base appears to be seal griege, I'd say between 1971 and 1973. It's definitely one of the later ones for sure. Great find having everything there.

I do know that it was the last model made......... before the re-introduction of the white one and the stainless steel one.
A stellar machine.

I just got the constellation in the mail today!!
So far thus vacuum has been great. But the attachments are very very dirty. Tonight i have been soaking them in the bathtub with bleach. I already soaked the floor nozzle, dusting brush, and upholstery brush. Right now the hose is in there. All of the attachments have turned out great with no labels rubbing off or discoloration. I plan to fix the hose damage and the cord ripping where it enters the machine. Overall, this will be a great project and will be very cool in the end. I would like to see pictures and stories of other people’s Connie’s too. I have attached before and after pictures of the attachment, this week i will be getting around to cleaning up the vacuum as well.
