I’m feeling a bit nostalgic today, so for my housekeeping duties, I decided to go the classic route! For the few carpeted areas, I used one of my favorite upright vacuums, my Hoover Convertible U4127. This is one of the first uprights I ever remember using as a kid, so it only fitting to have one as an adult! Now, for the rest of the hard surfaces, I went “old school” and used one of my Electrolux XXX’s. I find it amazing to think as good as it cleans now, that at some point in the late 40’s or early 50’s this exact vacuum was cleaning someone’s house after being delivered by their “Friendly Electrolux Man”! Anyway, enjoy!

Very nice! The older I get the more nostalgic I feel! It's amazing that a 70 year old vacuum cleans as well as it did the day it was delivered. I doubt that can be said about most of today's over engineered plastic stuff.

My XXX Has been out of commission for a while now...I need to find a good motor for it. Glad to see you used some goodies to get the house really clean!

I completely agree

I have run across these old Electrolux vacs and they would be so dirty, dusty, and rusty that I would think “there’s no way on earth that poor old thing could run.....”. More than once have I had my face filled full from a nice big dust cloud as that old motor purred to life, running as smooth and quiet as you would expect from a classic Lux! I think that’s one of the reasons I like the older Electrolux vacuums, the motors had such a pleasing hum to them, not like these modern day rippers! I bought a brand new Hoover a few years ago, and I swear out of the box, the blasted thing sounded like a broken buzz saw! It was just a terrible cleaner that I ended up giving away and buying another metal bodied Electrolux!
