Hi everybody,

I’ve got a few questions about my Miele S7580 Swing Power Plus Upright with Automatic Height Adjustment and Digital Suction Control... I bought it brand new in 2012. See the pictures I’m posting as now they call it the S7 or the dynamic U1 but most sold now have the Dial instead of my digital speed/suction control and Automatic Suction Control Setting. (Later Called AutoEco)

Anyhow my first of two questions: why is there more than one (green plastic collared) Miele “U” Bag?

After finally using up the dozen bags I’d bought years ago.. now I’m finding genuine Miele Bags in the “U” size/type BUT they are “AirClean 3D Bags”. I read dozens of bad one star reviews stating these “New 3D Bags” will Not stay attached and fall off in the bag compartment of my older model S7580 and then you have a Mess inside the bag compartment. Also, I’ve read they are not as thick and the pores clog faster, making them less efficient. Have any of you heard this? Do any of you know where I can buy the old style Original Miele “U” Bags??

Next question.. I can not locate Miele Part Number 4854916 Active HEPA filter? The new ones have a different part number and are white. Again, I bought several HEPA filters along with the bags so I’m just checking as some online reviews stated these new white filters were taller and wouldn’t fit their older S7580 Uprights? Any truth to this or do I go ahead and order the white SF-HA 30 Miele HEPA AirClean 30 Filter?

Sorry to be such a nuisance but it’s been years since I’ve bought either part and on the official Miele website, they don’t even list my vacuum anymore. Not sure but did they stop manufacturing the fully digital controlled suction control upright?? I’d seen a beautiful Tango in Red years ago and I think also a Black Model with digital AutoEco... but mine from 2012 was apparently only offered in Silver and I’ve not seen any of them, new for sale now. Guess Miele discontinued this type Upright and only offer the dial control models?

Thanks in advance for any and all help... if anyone has resources for GENUINE Miele Bags and Filters, cheaper than from Miele direct, please let me know or share links. Much appreciated and Thanks!

Not having owned any Miele Vacuums, I can't tell the difference between the new and old bags, but I have often found NOS parts such as the bags you are looking for on eBay for much lower than the original MSRP.

I had a look at Miele USA. They've two products: a standalone box of 4 bags, and a 'service pack' of 16 bags + Hepa filter.

I think some of the reviews on the likes of Amazon, are because customers ordered Genuine Miele Brand, but the trader involved sent non-genuine 'pattern spares' instead. I think it's those ones that are troublesome.

Also, I'm sure I previously came across someone complaining about their Miele upright not keeping the bag in position. It turns out that the hinged fitment was broken in some way, thus not keeping the bag collar against the dirt inlet. A replacement fixed it.

@rolls_rapide

Hey thank you! So I’m hoping that those bag issues, where they came off the guide and allowed dirt inside the bag compartment are simply because that bag retention clip was broken or user error in changing the bag! Mine have Never come off but then I know just how to place or remove a bag in this Miele.

Thanks for your help. I’m still waiting to see if anyone can help regarding the HEPA filter issue I’ve seen online. So many have read my post.. must not be many Miele people who can help?

I can't see their being any issue with the new style HEPA filter. I recently fitted the new white HEPA to my Miele C3. I'm sure it will fit fine 😊

More often than not.

When the bag won't stay on a Miele upright the customer has ripped the bag dock (As seen in Rolls_rapide's reply) off along with the bag.

Thank you everybody!

I totally appreciate the help and advice. I went ahead and ordered the New Style 3D “U” bags for my beloved Miele Upright and the new White HEPA filter and both seem to fit perfectly. I still have two of my original bags, but I put a 3D bag in and just put my hand over the hose inlet several times, making the bag full indicator slide over to orange, and the bag remained perfectly attached inside. The material of the 3D Bags does feel different and slightly thinner on these genuine Miele bags versus my genuine bags bought years ago, but as long as I do Not see any dust inside my beautiful, spotless machine, when changing my first full 3D... I will be ok. I don’t think there will be an issue now and I am hopeful.

The HEPA was not needing changed yet, as my 50 hour indicator light has a long while to go before the current (old style blue colored) HEPA filter needs replaced, but I fit the new genuine Miele HEPA (in the White Color) in and it fit perfectly! Thanks Mark!

I still would like to know if anyone knows or has seen the AutoEco Uprights still being sold brand new or if they were discontinued for the Dial Suction Control Models being sold now?? It’s been so many years since I bought mine (early 2012) that I’d forgotten I bought it from a Williams Sonoma catalog. I’d quit smoking cigarettes a year before and saved all that money (2 packs a day at $4 bucks a pack) I’d have been spending on them until a little over 3 months later I had saved up the $899 dollars to buy it. So even though I’d gotten rid of a lot of my vacuum collection in the past.. this one is special to me and I’ll never get rid of it. To this day, I still have never touched another cigarette since 2011. My Miele is also a reminder as to how much money I’ve saved quitting.. wish I’d kept it up but I only saved for a year total.. which added up to almost $3,000 bucks!

Thanks again everyone, I appreciate you all and truly enjoy being a part of Vacuumland.org and our Vacuum family! You guys are the greatest!
