Im looking for a rare Hoover Elite/Preferred model. I believe the model number is U5092-940. I say rare because I have seen absolutely nothing about it other than a picture of it that used to be up on the internet. It is transluscent like the similar Breathe Easy model except its hose is situated on the back and it is a much brighter red color. And I believe that on the picture of it, the bagdoor said it was called the Hoover Dimension. If any collector knows of the specific model I am referring to, let me know.

I think I know what model you're talking about. One of the late-model traditional style Elites that's bright red. I don't know for certain but I think you're right about it being a "Preferred". Does translucent bag cover seem taller than the usual soft cover models?

I've seen at least 2 of these at thrift stores over the years. The bag covers were caked in dust after 20 years of hard work, but a good hosing off could have brought it back. I'm going to bookmark this page and I'll let you know if I ever find another one. I never thought Elites would one day be so collectable!

That sounds like one of the late Elite models from the very late 1990s/early 2000s possibly? I've seen them in my JCPenney catalogs but not sure if that exact one or not.

I cant find this particular machine anywhere. Not in thrift stores or on online seller sites. I always find the similar preferred style breathe easy with the maroon color but never the other one. I used to have a picture saved on my computer because of the fact it seemed like a rarer and more uncommon model. It is most certainly preferred style because it had that more roundish cover than the traditional elites (which I believe is in fact taller than the regular elite soft bags). Judging by its looks from memory, I believe it was one of the last elites/preferreds made around 2001-2002. There used to be an image of this model up on a review website with tons of other archived reviews of older models. The one in question however, is no longer up on the site with the rest. Epinions is the site. Would be nice to find one. Thanks for the bookmark, hopefully it will one day be found.

Here is a picture of the Breathe Easy Vacuum. Here you can see it has the preferred style door. What separates this from the one im looking for is the other one is bright red, has a hose situated on the back, a regular elite style hood cover and is labeled Dimension (in a pretty cool looking font).

Those aren’t that rare

I’ve seen a few of these, I found a mint one at Goodwill a few years ago and snatched it up. I don’t have it anymore but it was probably one of the nicest condition Elites I’ve come across. Frequent the thrift stores, they made so many of these and they are still out there

Hello FantomFan

Oh I'm not referring to the one in the picture. There is a rarer variant of this machine labeled Dimension and in a different shade of red. You had the Breathe Easy? It looks unique.Think I saw one at Walmart years ago. It was either this or the "Dimension".

I'm in Raleigh, not sure what would be involved to ship it for you, cost/packaging and all. Let me know..I'd be happy to help in anyway.
