I just recently purchased a new Hoover Guardsman from Amazon for $155 (free shipping with Amazon Prime). I was using my Hoover Convertible as my daily driver and wanted to have something new just so I didn't put extra wear on my older machine. I was weary about buying this wondering if it would have the same sound, feel, and groom the carpet as my Convertible did. So far I am very pleased and I love the extra long cord, even though it may be a bit cumbersome at times this is a commercial machine so the cord is to be expected. I can plug in and do the whole house without changing outlets. It feels and sounds identical to my older convertible and grooms the carpet beautifuly. I wished Hoover still made residential machines of this style but this was the closest I could get.
I would love to get any opinions from others who have this machine as to its durability and if will still last like the old convertibles did. It seems to be of quality but is only "Assembled in the USA" so I'm curious as to the lifespan it may have compared to the original American made Convertible.

Sadly that's what the USA has come to, we only assemble stuff now. I got a pair of sneakers recently and they said that too.

Great machine! Reminds me of KITT from Knight Rider with the black on black on black and only the cord being orange.

Wow congratulations on a great Hoover! I have high hopes for some Hoover Vacuums and this is one of them, granted it probably won’t last as long as the iron horse convertibles but should do a wonderful job for you.

I Love my Good Will store Hoover find, for $7 bucks, all it needed was a new belt and cleaned up. It is a little scuffed from the previous owner not taking better care of it but sounds great and really cleans well. A Hoover Professional Series with HEPA and a steel lined fan chamber and steel brushroll and it’s even got LED lights!

Another favorite Commercial Hoover, I bought new on Amazon, is my Hoover Hushtone 13+ Bagged Commercial Upright, Hexguard HEPA, 69 decibels on hush mode and the lifetime Intellibelt. Also, Assembled in the USA too. It even got a Gold rating from The Carpet and Rug Institute.

I hope you will share some pics of your new Guardsman out of the box, I’d love to see it. Enjoy and congrats!

You know, it actually looks kind of classy in all black.

Edgy, too. But classy.

If it shares the design of its major parts with the American made one, I wouldn't worry much about its longevity.

Those are both very nice vacuums. I like the hoods on them too and the LED lights.

Are the bagged models made anymore? The only one I see on Hoover's site is the bagless model, but Home Depot does show the bagged one in the first post above.

@fan-of-fans

Hi, as far as I know for Bagged Hoover’s, they only have the plasticy models that you’d buy on Amazon like the two T-Series Bagged (Blue or Red Model) or of course they still sell the Anniversary Windtunnel Self Propelled Bagged Vacuum on Hoover.com

But of my two pictured Vacuums the Hoover HushTone is Bagged and very well built, considering most of its plastic, but I highly recommend the HushTone with the lifetime Intellibelt as a great Bagged option.

I don’t know of many other New Bagged Hoover Vacuums available unless it’s an older NIB model on Amazon. From my personal experience I’d place my Commercial Hoover HushTone 13+ with Intellibelt above all other plastic Vacuums but slightly below say a Sebo X series Upright and even more below my FAVORITE Bagged Upright (sorry I just love everything about this one) my Miele S7 Upright with AutoEco digital speed control! For wall to wall carpet only, I LOVE this Miele and I’ve had it for 8 years now and she’s a work horse! I just wish it was another color as when I bought it the Only top of the line AutoEco was available in Silver only.

Just my ramblings and opinions.. love and respect to ALL and their favorites!
