Hello everybody! I appreciate the help and say thank you in advance but I have a few more Kirby questions for collectors or knowledgeable folks here.

I just found a MINT, barely used Kirby Sentria 2, the attachments have never been used, the bag is pristine and not one scratch or scuff on the aluminum.. this lady takes great care of her stuff.

So my questions are this... per the Kirby Company YouTube Sentria 2 General Video (see Link), they instruct you to LOWER the height adjustment all the way to the LOWEST position and raise it one click at a time to the “correct height” and mention if it’s too high, it won’t perform as intended. SO how does this work then? Do you still listen for the change in pitch in the motor? What happened to all the other Kirby directions for height adjustment where you used to RAISE the height adjuster all the way UP.. then click lower until you hear the motor pitch change, THEN one more click lower! I’ve owned three older generation Kirby and always started with the height raised up.. clicked until the sound changed then one more click down... now this change per Kirby has me flustered and a bit confused. Watching the first Sentria model only confused me more since Kirby states only the lower Three positions are for vacuuming carpet now.. start at three then go down. Also, I have a short haired Dog, so do I use setting three on all my carpets and rugs? Sorry, I’m not trying to sound like an idiot, I just care THIS much about taking proper care of this beautiful Kirby Sentria 2 machine!

What is the part number and correct bag type for the Sentria 2? I see Style “F” but I see two types of bag, Allergen Reduction Filters HEPA in a blue & green plastic sales package and I see Micro Allergen Plus HEPA Bags in a Red plastic sales package. Which are the Very Best and highest filtration available and what is your guys opinion on where to buy the bags online at the lowest price? Genuine Kirby bags only, I’d Never use generic bags,

Lastly, (I’m guessing) the Zipp Brush is NOT included in the standard attachment tool kit, so does anyone have any helpful hints, links or store names that I can order a specific Sentria 2 Beige/Grey Zipp Brush? Too many places on eBay and online will Not guarantee the correct matching color Zipp Brush as they claim all are “interchangeable” Lol NOT to die hard collectors it’s not.. right guys!

Thanks to everyone, I’m so excited about my new Kirby Sentria 2, I pick it up Monday in my town from a lady I know on Facebook, nice grandma type that was happy a collector was buying it as she herself said “it’s such a great vacuum, I felt bad that it’s not being used”. This will tell you how excited I am about the Kirby, I have another brand, new vacuum being delivered today and I’m more excited about getting my slightly used Kirby Monday! Lol Sorry guys I’m just an oddball guy who Loves vacuum cleaners and has since I was five years old! I’m so thrilled to finally own a Kirby again, I’ve not owned one since I gave away my G3 model. Thanks again everyone!

I have no idea why Kirby reversed the procedure for adjusting the power head and honestly, I don't know that it really matters whether you raise or lower the head into the proper running position. The Kirbys I have are all pre-Sentria units (Heritage I, G5, Gsix) and I lower them into place, listening for a change in pitch when the head seals against the carpet. Do it whichever way works best for you and your carpets.

Hello Patrick,

I have always adjusted my Kirby's nozzle by raising it all the way up and then lowering it until I hear the brushes contact the carpet then lowering one more click. However I have found that this method always ends up on setting #3 so now I just set it to 3 and start vacuuming.

The Allergen Plus bags in the Red package (old package color) or now in the new Green package are Kirby's best bags and filter down to the smallest particle size. Here is a link to the Kirby Needs store on ebay where you will generally find the best prices on any Kirby parts and consumables such as bags etc.  http://stores.ebay.com/Kirby-Needs/_i.ht...

Lastly, all Kirby Zipp brushes fit all Kirby vacuums but if you absolutely need to have the beige one, then I would suggest you order it directly from Kirby, but you will pay a much higher price then if you buy one on ebay.

For the Zip brush. Just set it on the item to be cleaned and use light pressure. Go in any direction you chose. Heavy pressure will slow the spinning brush and wear it out prematurely. Remember Light pressure is all it takes to make good contact with the surface being cleaned.

Update!

Hi everybody! I found the exact Kirby model 293512 Zipp Brush to match my Sentria 2! Paid $19 bucks on eBay and she verified it’s the correct brush. So thanks for all the help and advice, the Zipp Brush is on it’s way to me.

Excited too as I get to pick the Kirby up a day early!! The nicest lady is meeting me later today (Sunday) so I get it a day early!

Now all I have to do is find the genuine Kirby F bags with charcoal to help with odor from my Dogs hair. Anyone have a good source or do you guys know if the standard Kirby MicroFiltration bags would work if I hear you can buy charcoal powder and sprinkle it inside the new bag? Thoughts?

Thanks to all who’ve been such a great help.. you guys are the BEST!

Patrick,

Did you read all of my reply #2 above?

I gave you a very good source with near Wholesale prices for all of the different types of Kirby bags that will fit your Sentria II. In case you missed it, here it is again:

Hi Sptyks,

Sorry I missed thanking you, yes I appreciate the link and I ordered the Charcoal odor reducing Kirby bags, they were a lot cheaper than Amazon which is where I would have ordered them since I have Amazon Prime.

So thank you, you all have been a great help and I truly appreciate it!

Oh and unless the gal I spoke with yesterday at Kirby customer service was wrong, she said they only currently sold the Black Avalir Zipp Brush for $59 bucks. That’s how I started looking and found the nicest lady on eBay selling the Sentria 2 Greige Color Zipp.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped me, I absolutely LOVE this Kirby and if I’d known it was so awesome, I probably would have bought it brand new, first hand from a Kirby dealer.. but at least I saved a fortune this way.

@sptyks

Hey!

I thought I’d post one of the eBay messages I received from Kent at “Kirbyfans”, the link to his store was VERY helpful and I bought quite a few things from him. I told him I found his eBay store from a Vacuumland.org friend and he spoke highly of you folks!

Just thought id pass this on and also say Thank you Sptyks, I ordered my charcoal odor reducing Genuine Kirby Bags and a bunch of other stuff. Excellent low prices and a really nice guy to boot. I highly recommend Kent and his eBay Kirby store!

Kirbyfans is the best

There has never been anything I couldn't find at his ebay store, including trim pieces and a new bag for my D-80.

If you can't find what you are looking for, email him, and he will go out of his way to get it for you, Kirby wise that is.

Patrick,

I was happy to hear that you found what you were looking for at the Kirby Needs Store. Kent is a great guy and I have purchased many Kirby parts and bags from him. As always it is a pleasure doing business with him.
