Hey everyone
I turned my d80 on about 2 weeks ago and the motor sounded rough. I took it apart cleaned up field coil wires and commuter. I put new bearings in it. I made sure Armiture blades were level and even. My headlight didn't work and red power wire was falling off front sensor. I rewired these wires so it wouldn't short out motor or switch. I found wide green wheels from Kent oyler. I have a d50 headlight cap, a led light and I found like oem bag but top fill that takes the clamp clasp thing Hooks to hook by power cord. I put a heritage 2 mini emptor with hepa bag assembly on it. The heritage 2 bag wasn't used green kirby top filled bag was used.
I finally got it assembled.
I ll post a few pics but not complete vacuum yet. I'm at Dr right now but I will get more pics later today.
Hope you enjoy.

I have never seen a D-80

With the glowing headlight badge.

For a minute I thought it was a D-50 wearing D-80s clothing. The second picture on the first post again makes me think it's a redressed D-50.

It's got a d50 headlight to see logo. First picture was d50 with d80 wheels and nozzle the d50 came as pictured. I used same concept on d80 I thought it looked awesome on the green beast.
I vacuumed with it and it was awesome. D80 has its power back. I am waiting for d80 hose to dry as it didn't have hose end. I'm going to use my sentria zip brush to vacuum stairs get lab hair up.
I hope everyone enjoyed pics. It's not polished up yet but it's going to be my daily driver.

Way cool! I wish Kirby used that lighted logo in all their vacs - a VERY distinctive and classy touch.
Now get 'er all shined up and you will appreciate it even more, even if it is just a quick hand polish job. A couple hours will make a world of difference.

Thanks I just got a new bench grinder two days ago. I'm going to take it apart and polish it up. I wanted to make sure i fixed the light and motor sounded good. I have 2 d80s this one and another one I'm just waiting for front bearings I ordered. I will leave it all original but I may polish one in pic over weekend and Monday do my all original.
