I am pleased to say that after almost 18 years of absence, the old-fashioned Royal all metal upright is back in my family. While it isn’t the same model, it is the same motor, which is close enough. I had been asking for a while for a good commercial vacuum as long story short,my mother’s business was moving, and needed someone to clean on weekends as the building they are in does not clean the individual office suites. I looked at several commercia brands and vacuums – most of which were direct air. I wanted a machine that would last a lifetime, was of great quality, cleaned deeply, and an all around amazing machine. In the end, my top 5 wound up being a Hoover c1439, Kirby dual sanitronic 80 (refurbished at a local vacuum store), Kirby G5 (also refurbished), Royal All Metal Upright with the adjust-o-rite, and a CleanMax Pro Series with a quick draw wand (or similar). While Kirby isn’t exactly commercial, I was just drawn to the fact that they were available locally refurbished. So here she is: my Royal beast next to my bigger beast, the Kirby Sentria. I just know that because I love my Kirby, I’m going to love its, as a want to call it, cousin – the Royal! Not sure where this one is made, but on the bottom it says assembled in USA. This was given to me yesterday as a birthday gift and now I have a machine that is arguably THE Kirby of commercial vacuums and the Rolls Royce of commercial cleaning. So here’s to a good, long life for the Royal!
