We went to Greensboro this afternoon,I stopped at the Kirby dealers to get a couple of old style belts, He handed me the new style knurled belts, I said no, I needed the old style, oh I use these on all Kirbys now, doesent make any difference, I said no thank you, I don't intend to ruin the bearings on my good machines and left!

Unfortunately, my super friendly Kirby shop near me only carries the newer belt also.
Sure it physically fits all machines but the thinner belt sure does have its places.
It will prolong the life of sleeve bearing brushrolls, help prevent the plastic belt lifters from breaking, and be friendlier to people with arthritis in their hands.
I restored my mom's D50 for Christmas and despite it having a ball bearing newer brushroll, I put on the thinner belt so she could actually turn the belt lifter. Even with that belt she still has to use both hands. I spun it around like a toy with one hand.

How old was he? I ruined my basement floor by following the painting advice given to me by a part time hardware store employee. "You don't need any sealant" he says, "you need this latex paint" he says...never listen to any advice by a store employee today. They just care about cashing their paycheck and getting home.

Les,

If you are unable to obtain them locally, give Kirby's Parts Supply hotline a call at 1-800-437-7170 and ask them for part no. 159056A (10 belts).

Amen huskyvacs!!!!!

I went to lowes and bought a vinyl linoleum floor covering and they told me NOT to glue it down. They said it was a floating linoleum. So I roll it out and I'm thinking the whole time how the hell is this supposed to not wrinkle if I don't glue it. The idiot actually told me I would ruin it if I attached it in any way. Well the first time I vacuumed the damn thing it was like trying to vacuum a bed sheet lol just sucked it up and wrinkled the hell out of it. Then one day Shaylee vacuumed it with her Riccar upright with the brushroll on. It ripped it. I went back to lowes to complain and the same guy told me sorry no warrantee because you didn't have us lay it out. whatever.....

As for the belts I'd shop on line. Most vac shops and or dealers are just going to sell you the new style belts.

Many years ago I had a Kirby dealer make me mad. So mad, in fact, that I wrote Kirby Company about it. The dealer called me, and we became friends. I ended up working for him until I moved out of state.

YouTube Tutorials

Whenever I embark on a project, car repair, etc.,
I'll check to see if there's a tutorial on the
subject. There's some bad advice out there, sure.
But its easy enough to find one who knows what they're
doing. Very helpful stuff.
