Ok folks, gotta wiring question! I recently replaced the handle wiring in my 825 (two speed) because it was totally dry-rotted. Now, for the life of me, it will only run on the low speed and I cannot figure the darn thing out! Can anyone snap me a photo or a wiring diagram of their 825 as a reference? Thanks!

Do you hear a distinct click Up, Center and Down

Hello All and bvac6,
Hoover and Singer used the this style of switch in their early 2-speed vacuums excluding the finger tab as Hoover is shaped like an arrow. Check if you hear the click in all position. The switch at times may not like being moved around and will not make contact in the High or Low position. I have had to remove them and spray with WD-40 to make it move freely. Work the switch a good number of time while still wet with the WD-40. Caution do not install switch while wet with WD-40, dry it of good as WD-40 is Flammable. Make sure it is making contact in High and Low positions. The connector at the end of the handle has 2 angled pins, (1 for High and the other for Low, I don't remember which one does what, and 1 that is straight. That straight pin on the handle end is for the other wire coming in from the cord that bypasses the switch.
I hope the pictures and text will help you. If you were across the street I could test the switch and wire it in a flash.
Let us know how it works out or if you think you would want me to take my 825 and check it.
Thank you for looking,
Pete

Thanks for the info! A member sent me a photo of the wiring diagram from the service manual. It's perfect now!
